Do you really top out at 70mph with the diesel (I find myself regularly going 80 when I'm on highways with a 65-70mph limit) or is it just a slow acceleration going up from 70?

Just slow acceleration at that point.

When I test drive the Supercharged 6 and TD6 back to back the gas engine felt exactly like my lr4 and was pretty uninspiring to be in a new car that accelerated the same. When I hopped in the diesel it was a big difference. Off the line the 460lbs of torque felt great. Highway it also pulls great until 70 and then it's just slower up to 80+.

If there wasn't a diesel I probably wouldn't have ordered one.

Of course the SVX now has the "fun motor" that my RRSS has but we need more street machine than off-road beast.

The gas engine is faster make no mistake. It hits 60mph a full second faster than the TD6. It's just very smooth so difficult to gauge acceleration. No need for TD6 as the reviews have confirmed.
