The access height "lock" mode only prevents the car from automatically rising from access back to normal height until you reach speeds up to about 20 mph. It is designed so you can drive at a decent clip inside low overhead clearance parking structures and garages that you could not otherwise enter at regular height (not locking access height would cause the car to automatically rise when you reach speeds as low as 8 mph or so.) It doesn't prevent your suspensions from extending all the way when you jack the car up, though. Again, although the car will look like it's on stilts, nothing gets damaged if you follow the instructions on your manual - the suspensions are designed that way. If anything, locking the car at access height will make it challenging to slide and position a floor jack under the 4 jacking points on the chassis.

Yep. That makes perfect sense. I simply couldn't get my mind wrapped around the difference between jacking on certain settings and offroading with three tires touching? It's the same, so I'm going with the "they're all crazy" explanation.

My Burb has air suspension. Nothing special there either.

Thanks everyone for the great thread.

I should get back to the original topic of tires. which I think was on another thread. Love the Michelin Premier LTX's.

Maybe try a different Costco. Years ago they didn't have my size for the stock size. Last year I put Johnson Rods in and got bigger tires and went back to Costco for the bigger size and they were awesome and the price was really really good. Around a $1000 for 5 BFG KO2's. There was a sale when I bought them. You can see the tires and LR3 in my profile pic.

Sorry - late replying to this thread. I have a 10klbs lift at home. Like others have said, it's no problem other than making sure you get around obstacles underneath the car and avoid things you don't want crushed - like the compressor.

I installed my lift in the wide setting, and combined with the fact that it i a low-profile lift (for sportscars), that means my reach is limited. With the frame the LR4 has, I have to get the LR4 dead center between the posts to get the pads to reach. Bu teven with all that, it works great.

As for the suspension position, as umberto mentioned, no matter what you do, once in the air it will go to it's fullest extension. I follow the manual and go to off-road height, but I don't think it matters.

Hmm...I bought my Bridgestone Dueller Alenza tires from them and had them installed. I also went back 5-6 times for rotation to both that Costco and ISSAQUAH Costco...no problem. OI have a 2011 LR4 HSE Lux.
