Power going off/on/off fairly regularly on front console - speedo/tach . . . all just shut down, then a few sec or min later start showing speed/RPMs. What is really odd is that when they are down and I turn the car off, they briefly light up.

In my mind, if it were a bad fuse, it would be off all the time . . .

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,

-David

Dave,
I have a similar issue with my 2010 LR4. Issues with background lighting, but not with any gauges or anything else. Seems like these issues point to the CJB (Central junction box),
It's the main fuse block on the right side behind or below the glove box. Check for moisture damage there or connections into the block. Here at the shop where I work we are 95% sure the CJB is my problem. List price for mine is over $600. We only get aprx. 20% off list. Then you need to get it programmed along with the 2 keys. We don't have the LR software here as we don't see enough of these to warrant the investment. So currently I'm living with my background lighting issues on some controls and switches. Otherwise all else is OK, just annoying to me.

There is definately a thread on this forum about this exact issue (console going blank/off), I remember reading it. And I do think it ended up being the CJB, but I cannot be100% sure. Perhaps try searching for CJB or similar and you can find it and the details of the diagnosis and fix. Good luck!

different forum, same problem: https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr3-28/lr3-instrument-panel-problem-87382/

bought an 08 lr3 in Dec, it has the issue too. more often, but not only, when it was pretty (5-10F) cold. gauges died & led display went blank or "garbled" - maybe 5-6 times this year. sometimes off, then on after a few minutes; other times off-on-off-on.
if it's still happening in May, i might open the dash; if not, i'll put up with it next winter.
please post if you learn the cause, and/or find a solution set.

Did anyone ever figure this out? I have the exact same symptoms. Generally, the Cluster goes dark in the cold and comes back once the car has warmed up. It used to just be a bad gas gauge. I’ve tried reconnecting and sprayed the terminals with electrical cleaner. I don’t believe the lack of slack in the cable is the issue.
