Hey guys,

Hopefully this is the right forum, but I am in the market for a 2006 Range Rover Sport SC. I have reached out to a dealership that has one w/119k miles for sale for $11,000. Is that a good price for that vehicle, considering the age and mileage? It seems the oil was changed approximately every 8-12k miles, and the car had barely been in service for 10 year before it finally broke 60k miles on the odo.

Were there any common issues with that model year or any major issues or common problems with this generation of Range Rover Sports? Any "success" stories of flawless ownership? When buying one, are there any signs I should look for that shows either neglect or meticulous care by the previous owner(s), or signs of impeding major problems that are about to occur?

You guys are the experts and have owned these cars for years, with extensive knowledge, so I decided to rely on your wealth of information. Of course I will probably get a PPI, but in the meantime, any advice/help is greatly appreciated (before I get to that step). I don't want to walk into something that I will regret later on. (I can provide a link to the Carfax if needed).

Thanks a bunch!!!!

It's a good price, I recently purchased a 2008 RR HSE for $15,000 because that's what I found the going price to be in the 2006-2009 range over the last 9 months. I would worry about the SC, those things typically make the engine run hotter and harder which typically reduces the total mileage obtainable on the vehicle.

Ideally I looked for a RR HSE non-SC with between 60-130k miles on it. I purchased one with 90k miles on it and runs like a top.

This is the second Land Rover for me and it's been the normal stuff that breaks.. water pump, brakes, alternator, fluid changes stuff for the last 60k miles on my Discovery II now with 195k miles on it.

Like anything if you are not willing to fix things that break it will only get worse, so learn to do it yourself like me or pay someone else to do it.

I agree with Guy, same parts for SC more cost as well, I have a 06 LR3SE 7 passenger with 110miles that I’ve had for 3 years with new ARNOTT compressor, new calipers rotors ceramic pads and ebrake as well as new drive shaft hanger bearing issue, full bushing kit rear upper control arms new tires as well as complete tranny transfer case and both differential fluid change all completed within last 6 months. That I’d sell you for 9000. I just bought an 06 RRSport Hse with under 120 on it and preformed all similar work in addition to all new air struts as well that I’d let go for 11000. While I’m in Canada Ontario, both vehicles were originally sold in the USA. Reason for selling is wife says we don’t need two, next delemma she like LR3 and I like RRSport, go figure! Text me at 519 240 9098, if interested, both vehicles are Saftey Checked, car proofed, and ETest certified. My 2 cents worth anyways! Lol

Oh and I must say that if you’ve never owned a Land Rover, you’ll never go back once you do! The ride comfort, handling, performance and security worth every penny!
