Has anyone done any exhaust modifications to their SCV6 LR4?

Hey all, going from the 5.0 to the SC V6 a few months ago, has left me constantly wanting for a better sounding engine/exhaust note. Whereas the old V8 had a great burble to it even stock, the SC V6 in the lr4 sounds about as exciting as a Toyota Camry. To me, it's downright pitiful and dull.

So, I know this engine has the potential to sound good in the F-Type and other JLR vehicles, but I haven't been able to find any videos on YouTube of a V6 lr4 with anything but stock mufflers. Has anyone on here either done a muffler delete or a full exhaust system?

Also, do all of the SCV6 LR4s sound like a bunch of marbles in a washing machine when you shut off the engine?

I'd be interested in exhaust but haven't seen anything on this forum about anything that people really loved.

No, at shutoff mine does not sound like marbles in the engine. That would concern me.

I have a very reputable exhaust guy that's been working on my tuner cars since the early 90's. I've asked him about the same thing for my 5.0 v8. Long story short, he highly recommended doing a muffler delete. In our case it was a mid-muffler/resonator delete. After the delete and bending new pipes to both exhaust resonators/tips, it sounds mean with zero air leak(s)! It ran me about $250 vs the $1200 Magnaflow.

I know there are vids online, but if you have a chance, maybe shoot us over a quick 15 sec video so we can hear:) The truck is still my wife's DD, so not sure she would like the added noise. Maybe she might be tricked into thinking she's driving faster and relax with the gas pedal.

A couple years back had to spend about $100 to re align my passenger exhaust that got bent after wheeling. Ended up melting a little bit of the plastic bumper but no need to fix that.

I had the low sound Flowmaster put on my D2 and it sounded great. Think that only cost me $150 or so.

Good for you, I'm sure it sounds great!

I'll see if I can get a clip of it tonight.

That's exactly what happened with me, but on the drivers side. I opted to for the delete since I was at it. :driver:

Do you have that annoying "exhaust drone" sound while cruising at low RPM's? I think the possibility of that result is what's keeping me from doing the muffler delete. My loaner was an F Pace when the LR4 was in the shop and the exhaust note on that vehicle was amazing. Would love to duplicate that!

I did a muffler delete on my V8 LR4 and after about a week put it back to stock because it was so loud. I bet the V6 isn't as loud as forced induction usually takes away a little bit of the noise anyway. Do you know if the exhaust diameter is smaller on the V6 than it was on the V8? I've noticed the plumbing looks really small.

My V8 5.0 with the muffler delete sounds like a mild tuned Mustang 5.0. However, it didn't sound like that after the muffler delete. At first it was rough and sounded like a Harley Davidson. After I decarbonized the engine, it ended up sounding a lot smoother and better. To the point where my wife wasn't quite too sure if I did anything to it.

Exhaust sound at start up:

Interior sound under load at 75-80 mph:

I did a middlem delete on my V8 LR4 but it was so loud I put it back to stock. Wish someone on here had done it to a SCV6 LR4 so I could see what it sounded like.

Just FYI re: the Magnaflow on a V8: Do NOT do it! That's money I threw down the toilet.

The Good:
-It sounds fantastic under acceleration
-It burbles and pops in Sport shift mode on downshifts!

The Bad:
-Drone. Crazy drone at cruising speeds. Drove me insane.

The Ugly:
-Poor design. It physically hung lower than stock and was a huge target for striking objects off-road.

The design part was the worst because it could have been done better. The muffler space is quite plentiful, but they just routed it too low and left empty space above it. The flat face of the muffler literally hung down a couple inches lower than the frame rails or anything else under the truck. Zero excuse for this.

I yanked it back out and put the stock back on after a few months.
