A friend of mine just purchased a used (like-new) Discovery Sport and was looking for a local mechanic. He lives out near Dulles. He'll be under warranty for a while but is still looking for options for non-warranty work (wear items, rack & hitch installs, etc.)

Anyone have a non-dealer mechanic recommendations?

I did a quick forum search but didn't find anything.

Thanks!

Todd, there was just a discussion along these lines in the Maryland LR Owners group on FB. Overland 4x4 got good feedback as a LR specialty indy. They are in Alexandria. Is he looking for a LR indy shop, or just a good mechanic for accessories such as you mentioned?

Thanks. I'll check that page as well.

I think he's looking for a shop for any non-warranty service.

I know this is the LR4 board, but I wonder if it's still best to go to a LR specific shop for a Sport or if you can pretty much go anywhere. With the LR3/LR4, there seemed to be too much specific knowledge that I didn't want anyone "figuring it out" on my rig.

I don't know anything about them, but Loudoun RoVa seems to do quite a bit of Rover work. They are on rte. 50, pretty near the LR Chantilly location (a bit west on the north side of 50). There's always a line-up of old Rovers and Discoveries in their lot. I"m sure someone can comment on their service, but that seems pretty convenient to your location.

Sorry I forgot all about this but I've posted it here in the forum before. There's a searchable online directory of independent LR shops at:

www.lrshops.com
Hmmm, I don't see Airpark RVRS on there. (Dan's shop)
Must be a site where you have to pay to get listed.
