Please accept my condolences. I went from an LR4 LUX to a Lexus LX570, and never looked back. LR4 was very, very nice but monthly visits to a not so nice service department got to be a major nuisance. YMMV
I test drove and almost ordered an "S" that would've retailed around $85K. But after a month of thinking, decided against it: I just couldn't live with the aesthetics of the car (i.e. ugly)
I would have spent up to low $80's on a LR4 with a supercharged V8, IF Land Rover's reliability and dealership experience improved from subpar pathetic to above average, as I like a "box on wheels". Sadly, this is not happening.
That's way too funny, as I finally got rid of my LR4 and bought a "14 LX570, and couldn't be happier. Finally, I don't have to worry about buggy electronics, dashboard warning lights, faulty camera, plummeting resale value and regular visits with service department idiots.
LR4 probably wins in the "looks" department (not the case with the new RR), but she was indeed a high-maintenance, finicky lady who always demanded attention and made it clear she'd be too much to handle after the warranty was up. Sounds like a cliche, but being the best-looking is rather...
Yes, LR4 was special. Definitely unique in the looks department, tighter handling(with 20" wheels it felt very german).
The LX is more under-the-radar in the appearance department, slightly slower and the steering is a bit more loose. Love the ML reference sound system, great sales/service...
I am with Spoonito on this one: I absolutely can not handle dealer service departments because of their rotten, often condescending, attitudes and frequent inability to resolve issues promptly and efficiently. Since the new range rover is selling so well, it got even worse. No excuse for a...
I see those things here all the time, both in the day time and at night, randomly crossing roads and highways. Some of the dumbest varmints out there: never know if they will run away or straight into you; so, if I see them from a distance crossing the road, I always slow down/stop and blow my...
This is spot on. Although I think Tata is willing to give up its somewhat limited V8 customer base for a much larger customer share. Whether this strategy pays off or not remains to be seen. But I will be defecting to Lexus too, LX570 in my case, built like a brick house and good for the next...
Land Rover as a brand is not perfect. Yet it is a universally known fact that luxury automobiles of any brand typically require more maintenance @ a higher cost than an average cookie-cutter car. Based on your comments, Land Rover is not for you
Definitely get the price in writing at the time of placing the order, also your trade-in value, if any. Otherwise, you are running the risk of setting yourself up for a possible colossal fiasco. "Don't worry about it" is a bad advice for you in this case
Maybe its just me, but I just can't get over how generic and Ford-like the new RR looks; totally devoid of its former uniqueness. v8 engine is special indeed too
Mine is 2011 LUX with 20k miles. After a few annoying minor problems and dealing with the service department in transition, things have stabilized and its been a great truck with zero issues, original everything + better than expected mileage
I wouldn't do it unless prepared to possibly spend a lot of money on repairs/maintenance...the same way I'd be hesitant to buy any luxury car/truck out of warranty and with high mileage
