LR 4 Retired
LC is a great rig. My problem with stomaching the cost is the question; is it really twice the car of the 4runner? I could purchase 2 4runners sequentially over the next 16 yrs or so - versus drive 1 LC the entire time. Similar to the LR4 vs Range Rover. Never thought the RR was twice the car. -

What's your LR4 2015 Coolant Preference?
2012 V8. I previously would keep a bottle of Pentosin Pentofrost SF in the car to fill as needed. (mystery leaks). -

Mine was making the sound for years, but progressively getting worse. It wasn't just me hearing it. I was asked once if I had a diesel engine due to the noise. Bystanders would make comments about the sound at times. Maybe I could have got another 10K out of it. maybe not. I knew that... -

went with the 4runner. agree that it is a step down except in anticipated reliability and resale. more than adequate for any off road activities for me. the straw that broke the camel's back was combo of brakes (forgot how may sets I replaced), bushings and the tick-tock of a loose timing... -

Factory required annual service?
Your first service should be free, so definitely take advantage of that. It is the only break you will get from LR service. -

Pricing Differences for 2013 vs earlier (big changes?)
In addition to '13 being the last year of the V8, the other thing that may account for some of this is warranty. All 2012's should be out of warranty window now. (4 yr / 50K). You may find some late 2013's still in warranty window?? just a thought. -

Ticking sound
You have 215K miles! looks like an LR3 in your pic(?). That is awesome. I thought I was starting to show some age at 65K. Gives me hope that mine will keep plugging along. (215 K is a lot of brake jobs as I think about it. 215k / 25K = 8+. ). -

I decided to keep my LR4 after all.
next car is either a used G-wagon or the new defender. The defender is LR's last chance to stay true to its roots. No pressure LR. -
