LC is a great rig. My problem with stomaching the cost is the question; is it really twice the car of the 4runner? I could purchase 2 4runners sequentially over the next 16 yrs or so - versus drive 1 LC the entire time.
Similar to the LR4 vs Range Rover. Never thought the RR was twice the car.
203K is a good run! Needs and desires obviously change over the years. I no longer need the 3rd row with the kids now much older. I have also become more frugal or less tolerant of some of the costs associated with owning a depreciating asset. - hence I jumped ship to Toyota. I was not...

Mine was making the sound for years, but progressively getting worse.
It wasn't just me hearing it. I was asked once if I had a diesel engine due to the noise. Bystanders would make comments about the sound at times. Maybe I could have got another 10K out of it. maybe not. I knew that...
went with the 4runner. agree that it is a step down except in anticipated reliability and resale. more than adequate for any off road activities for me.
the straw that broke the camel's back was combo of brakes (forgot how may sets I replaced), bushings and the tick-tock of a loose timing...
My 2012 LR 4 has been retired from service. End of an era. It made it to 90K miles, but repair costs were starting to add up. I appreciate all of the advice here along the way. Jumping ship to Toyota. Giving up polish and style points, but hope to make it up in reliability. I think the off...
I'm running the Cooper Zeons (on 19" rims). Good tire if you are looking for something beefier. They do give up a little in terms of daily street driving (vs OEM conti's) - if this is just going to be used for your wife's daily driver. I could not bring myself to buy another set of Conti's...
thank you guys. that's what is awesome about this forum and active owners. - I have reassurance and 2 suggestions to fix this if it bothers me! The trailer was bouncing around making extra noise - didn't sound like what I remember from towing with my old ride.
I have a 2012 lr4. I have had the LR tow hitch for a while but just used it for the first time today. I used an old 2"x2" ball mount tube from my prior vehicle. This combo seemed to fit a little loose / slop in it (meaning you can wiggle the mount up and down a bit - not side to side and it...
Congratulations on your new ride. Quality ride for sure. Looks still haven't grown on me, but I am trying to like them. Not here to bash. I have noticed a lot of comments about the truck "growing" on them. To me it is sort of like a Rolex watch. When I see one on someone's wrist, I don't...
In addition to '13 being the last year of the V8, the other thing that may account for some of this is warranty. All 2012's should be out of warranty window now. (4 yr / 50K). You may find some late 2013's still in warranty window?? just a thought.
You have 215K miles! looks like an LR3 in your pic(?). That is awesome. I thought I was starting to show some age at 65K. Gives me hope that mine will keep plugging along.
(215 K is a lot of brake jobs as I think about it. 215k / 25K = 8+. ).
It's actually sad that any semblance of what Land Rovers were died with the end of the Defender and the LR4/Disco 4. This was confirmed by LR execs when Gerry McGovern stated that the new Disco was designed to appeal to the masses and be less "polarizing" (as he put it) in order to sell as many...
This is what a lot of corporate egg-heads do. They kill the golden goose, then move on to the next company. Think about North Face. This was a legit outdoor gear and apparel company back in the day. They made quality products and stood behind them. Next thing you know it is bought out by a...
