Ash Tray Won't Close...
I have this issue - it's stuck out and I don't want to pull the console out to fix it so there it sits to annoy me. I had the same issue with the passenger cup holder. I pulled the unit out and there's a circular coil that popped out of its housing. I am guessing it might be a similar setup. -

Parking Brake Horror Story
My EPB went at about 80k miles. The sound you're describing is discussed in other threads here - it's a 'howling' sound. Look at the bright side, you should be good for a long while with the new module and components. Like todd, I only occasionally use my EBP now - I don't want another $1200+ bill. -

Update: 1 attempt at the tire place and 2 attempts at the auto store and none of their diagnostic tools did the trick. Gave up and forked over $60 to the dealer. -

Sluggish transmission, multiple code errors
I didn't have the random shifting issue, but to Houm's point at 97k the gasket around my transmission sleeve started leaking. I had the gasket replaced and the tranny pan/filter assembly replaced, around $400 or so total. (Indie and cash not credit) -

Thanks tlt - I do use sea foam every oil change or so and it's an excellent product. I've also done the throttle body cleaning and am probably due for another treatment there. The tech ran the diagnostic on it and it's a service bulletin - LTB00071. It was throwing an over-sensitive engine... -

Throwing codes and rough idle + check engine light
Cleaning the MAF sensor takes about 5 minutes tops. Cleaning the throttle body takes a little longer but is easy enough that even I could do it. Maybe an hour just taking my time. There are great youtube videos on the process, it's pretty straightforward. -
