    2005 LR3 Key Issue #2

I don't think a manual key is quite what you think it is. On my Audi I have a "valet" key which has no remote function so looks like a manual key but does in fact contain an RFID so that the ignition immobilizer accepts it. To my knowledge, Land Rover never supplied an option valet key, you got...

    Dashboard cracked-airbag

I got referred to LRNA Corporate Customer Relations for my '07 with cuts appearing by the passenger airbag. They had me take it to a LR dealership for inspection and they offered to pick up $750 of the $1500 tab as a one time goodwill. Unfortunately I still think it's going to happen again so...

Cheapest way to replace lost key fob?

I agree that having a sealed unit means when the battery eventually reaches end of charge life, that gets expensive. At least my "other" car has an easily replaced CR032 battery in the fob ;-)

Cheapest way to replace lost key fob?

There is some debate on disco3*co*uk at the moment along with warnings from UK Police about newer "keyless" Land Rovers being stolen by having a new key added to the system via the OBD using "tools". BBS have released a product for these vehicles which apparently "hides" the relevant key ECU so...

Cheapest way to replace lost key fob?

I guess there may be different kinds of "virgin" out there....I would have suspected my dealer was lying to me (shock horror!) but I also tried the key pairing with a "virgin" key I got from eBay using the dealer SDD software and it baulked. Once I got the key from the UK, as I said, pairing it...

Cheapest way to replace lost key fob?

What umberto said - once a key has been matched to a VIN, it's a one time operation. You can swap out the key shank with one that will physically match your door and ignition lock but that won't disable the alarm, or allow the immobiliser to allow you to start the LR. In theory you can order a...

Cheapest way to replace lost key fob?

Aaaanddd that would be me :-) I found maybe the Gandalf of locksmiths who was able to cut me a new key from a blank with what I think he called a sidewinder machine. He laughed at the idea that the only people who could cut it were LR. UNFORTUNATELY, it was an in vain experiment (although I...

    2005 LR3 Roof rack crossbars

It's not the same keys as the LR. You need to order replacements from http://www.thule.com/en-us/us/support/spare-parts-keys supplying the lock code that you can see on the cylinder. I got mine very quickly.

Anyone use a topsider oil extractor? EX mityvac, liquivac

I have used it on the LR3 once through the dip stick without issue. I have the Mityvac primarily for my Audi which has the oil filter on top. So as I've got to get underneath for the oil filter on the LR I may as well go the old fashioned route. That rush of oil out the bottom and playing "where...

    Premium Fuel for LR4

I would like the choice to buy non-ethanol adulterated gas, even if it meant I paid more for it (but why should I?). Ethanol has no business being in the fuel tank.

Just picked up EBC pads and rotors

If you mean the parking brake shoes inside the drum rather than just the rear pads, failing to perform the adjustment will result in some god awful screeching from the EPB module when applying the EPB and if ignored most likely a replacement module at a cost of $700...

PARKING BRAKE error message while driving...

If he's replacing the rear shoes he should have the diagnostic tool(s) to put the EPB module into the appropriate mode during fitting. Which means he would probably have access to firmware updates. Or if you'd rather not pay the dealer all the time, buy an IID or Nanoncom tool and do it yourself...

    Suspension issue 2005 LR3

You may still have a leak/blockage and so the compressor is protecting itself - I think there's a temp sensor in there somewhere on the Hitachi pump. If you have cleaned up the filter and the media and you're sure you don't have a leak, may be worth spending about $25 on the refurb kit which is...

    Suspension issue 2005 LR3

If you feel handy you can do the job fairly easily in an hour or so with this guide: http://www.disco 3 dot co dot uk/forum/topic84165.html I did and it cost me about $600 for the kit off eBay. If the compressor runs, then it may be that your brother has an airflow problem through the dryer...

FS: BBS Faultmate MSV2 Extreme $650

As all my diagnostic wizardry is now being handled by the Nanocom from BBS, I think I need to pass on my MSV2 Extreme to a more adventurous wrencher ;-) Currently has the LR3 module installed - you will need to contact BBS to enquire about the adoption fee and any change of vehicle if you...

    lr3 rear side window defrost

My LR3 was born in Chicago before it moved to Austin so it has the cold climate package. Can confirm TLTs notes on the options of heated seats, front screen and washer jets. The rear elements are radio and TV antennae.... Never thought I would use the seats much but in the recent Icemageddon...

    2006 LR3 6 Disc Bluetooth Radio Buttons

AFAIK the bluetooth module is not built into the radio itself but on "discothree dot co dot uk" there is talk of upgrading the software in the bluetooth module can improve the quality of sound and adds some display features to the radio. Apparently replacing the module itself with a LR4 one is...

    Major Issue

If the battery isn't dead, you should be able to turn ignition on, foot on brake then move gear selector to N. If you're totally dead, I seem to recall there is a note in the handbook about a manual release of the gear lever. Same for the EPB.

    "Only Normal Height Available" display

    06 suspension no access

Thinking again about the switch if you can go from off road to normal then that would suggest the "go down" signal wire is getting through based on Dave's explanation. I think it would be worth checking to see if there are any fault codes being logged when trying to reach access height before...

    06 suspension no access

I wouldn't spend money on a compressor if it goes up to off road. Sounds more like your switch might be faulty and probably a cheaper fix. Not sure if you can pop it out and try testing it with a meter - I know of cases where the EPB switch went bad after someone left the sunroof open in the...
