    Replacement engine

The demise of my 2010 LR4 was a head gasket. The "stealership" quoted $16,000 to repair engine, which also included replacing the infamous timing chain guide and injectors. The question was what was the overall value of the vehicle with approximately 250K miles on it. What could be the next...

Gas smell after driving. No error codes. No visible leaks.

I had mine done by an independent garage about two years ago. I'll be expecting a refund from JLR. But if I had the smell right now, I'd have it repaired now because of the potential safety issue, and then seek reimbursement.

Thinking of moving on from LR4...

Blake, I had 238,000 miles on mine which was a 2010 LR4 HSE LUX. I had to give it up when I had the beginning of a head gasket issue and I knew that the cost to fix it at the "stealership" would be close to $20K. With the value of the vehicle at close to what CarMax is offering you, I couldn't...

Emergency key (blade key) not unlocking LR4

I believe that it's the signal from the key fob located inside the vehicle which overrides the lock from working electronically. It's doing this for your safety as the fob assumes that you're in the vehicle with the doors locked, so using the external key to try and open the lock is perceived...

    Engine Dies at 70 MPH

I would chime in with it being an electrical problem with either the alternator or battery. However I too had a complete failure similar to yours but I wasn't in motion at the time and it turned out to be a bad infotainment system. There are close to 20 modules that all run through that system...

    A Fork In The Road

Well after 238,845 miles it was time to say goodbye to my 2010 LR4 HSE LUX. I have seriously enjoyed owning the vehicle. The combination of luxury, size and off-road capability can't be matched by anything in the market today. I used the vehicle to haul stone, dirt, cement, animals...

    OEM hitch receiver, or aftermarket?

I'm not 100% sure when, but at some point LR changed the receiver for the LR4. My KNB500023 fits LR3 and early LR4s. What year is your vehicle?

    OEM hitch receiver, or aftermarket?

I've got an OEM that's a KNB500023 if anyone is interested buying it.

LR4 not garaged - should it be covered?

Mine has been outside at times under crepe myrtle trees and oaks and others and has been fine. If you have a hand held leaf blower, I'd just use that to clear off debris.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

Almost the same for me, 2010 LR4 V8 HSE with 233K except that my filter can be removed. Just following Schedule A & B as recommended but oil changes are more frequent.

Anyone know how to get this open ?

Just thinking that $450 buys a nice pair of Wellies for puddles! The use mirror sounds like a perfect solution. Good headwork.

    New noise. Timing chain?

I've had that for 232,000 miles. I'm not concerned as it goes away when warmed up. I know that's not very scientific or mechanical but...

2013 LR4 Low Beam Intermittent Bulb Outage

Also check to make sure that the replacement bulb is properly seated. The xenon bulbs can seem that way and then they'll flicker until you reinstall firmly.

    2010 LR4 Engine/Tranny Issues - Should I Fix?

That's a decision that each of us will face at some point. I agree that I've not found any other vehicle out there that does so many things. The ride, visibility, comfort, acceleration, turning radius, space to haul people and stuff and general feeling of well being with the vehicle and...

    2010 LR4 Engine/Tranny Issues - Should I Fix?

Julie, mine is also a 2010 LR4 with 231,000 miles on it and I enjoy the heck out of it. It's my daily driver with 100 miles a day going onto the odometer. There was a lot of good advice given here about taking it to an independent shop for an evaluation. Some of what you hear or see may be...

    Heated windshield not working

If it were me, I'd go with the original equipment windshield. My reasoning is based upon it's proven that it works and, if for some reason the 40A fuses that were added caused a vehicle fire, your insurer will not pay the claim because you've altered the electrical system.

How concerned should I be with a 150K miles LR4? Proactive repairs?

Stay in there Keya, my LR4 has 230,000 miles on it.
