    Anyone with ProSpeed sliders?

I have the Prospeed rear ladder, roof rack, undercarriage protection and rock sliders. All pretty high quality stuff. The sliders do in fact protect under the door sill. They are killer strong and will support the full vehicle weight for jacking...I have done it Wayne

    Prospeed Rack

I also have the Prospeed rack along with the Prospeed ladder, rock sliders and undercarriage protection. All is pretty good quality for the money. To complete, I have a Warn 9500 factory kit winch up front. I had Duratrak 19", but finally went with BFG all terrain KO2 mounted on 18" Compomotive...

    ground clearance

Been a long time since I posted on my LR4 development. It now has a low profile roof rack, rear ladder, under carriage protection, including the compressor and rock sliders; these items were all from Prospeed in UK. The roof rack has mounts for petrol cans, spare tires and sand ladders. I added...

throttle body on 5 litre LR4?

Thanks Eljefe! Not rude at all. I have a 1999 P38 for which I do all the maintenance. The LR4 is a new car for the wife, and we agreed that I do not have time to maintain two land rovers, so it will be done at the stealer or an indy. I am not familiar with the direct injection v8 in that car...

    life with LR4

My 2012 LR4 now has about 25K on the clock with no troubles at all. Great so far.

throttle body on 5 litre LR4?

Dealer want to clean the throttle body on my 2012 LR4. My understanding is that this is direct injection and there should not be a throttle body. What do you think?

    issues/questions after 6000 miles on 2012

Driving to the off-road places, one needs to face the pavement. I find it annoying that the transmission programming is for max fuel economy, so it runs in the highest gear possible. So you slow down for a corner (yes I know, it would be nice not to slow down, but that is the reality), and then...

    issues/questions after 6000 miles on 2012

I don't recall mentioning having fun on asphalt with the LR4; that was never the plan. I don't much enjoy asphalt as much as rocks and sand anymore, so my porsche and BMW get not much use except for commuting. For off road fun (my main kind) I drive the Range Rover; I bought the LR4 for my...

    issues/questions after 6000 miles on 2012

Quijote: If you drive a LR4 with the 375 hp/375ft/lb, 5.0 liter motor, you may change your mind about its performance level. This thing is very quick and nimble, surprisingly so. The direct injection, 4valve/cyl, variable valve timing is pretty cutting edge, and really moves that 6000 lbs...

Offroad : LR4 vs. RR vs RRS

Thanks! If this tool can give a couple more inches, that will be great. I have a similar thing (Faultmate) for my RR and it has been worth every of the many pennies it cost.

Offroad : LR4 vs. RR vs RRS

worry about LR4 ground clearance Hi, I am a new LR4 owner. I do quite a bit of off roading in the California desert canyons (Goler Wash, Mengle Pass, Lippencott road, etc) with a 1999 RR. That vehicle is great, and I am wondering if the LR4 will be as good. I am very impressed with the drive...

    issues/questions after 6000 miles on 2012

So, we now have about 6,000 miles on the clock on our new LR4 HSE and there are some issues troubling me. (1) Oil and Oil changes. I just cannot see waiting 15,000 miles to change oil! I did a change at 3,000 using Mobil 1 5/20 extended milage; according to mobil this meets/exceeds the...

    ground clearance

Under load my Ramsey draws more than 200A, and the alternator produces only about 120 in that vehicle. I dont know how big the alternator is in the LR4, but I imagine it is enormous to deal with all the electrical load (heated everything). Check the output, it may just manage the winch. Wayne

    ground clearance

It really is a gorgeous red; I will post some pics soon; by the way, how do you post pics on this site? Regarding the winch question, I have a jeep cherokee with a rear receiver that is used to mount my Ramsey, which is mounted on a removable plate so it can be switched from the front to the...

    ground clearance

Yeah, it will be interesting; I plan to proceed cautiously and slowly. Start with removable roof rack; can take it off anytime, right? Then proceed to the idea of better tires, for safety of course, not necessarily for off road, although that could benefit as well. What could it possible hurt to...

    ground clearance

This is really helpful information guys. Dave, my usual trails are routes like Mengel Pass, Lippincott road, goler wash, etc in Death Valley. I also spend a bit of time in Joshua tree. Good to learn that with care the LR4 will be OK. My P38 Range Rover has no problems on these roads, but the...

    ground clearance

David: It looks to me that the control arms needed for the independent suspension are the biggest problem (the lowest points). The spare sits on top of those, and even with the spare out the clearance is not improved much. The car is out just now so I cant go take a careful loo, but what do...

    ground clearance

Just got a new 2012 LR4 and have yet to try any serious off road adventures. This is actually my wifes new car (I have a 1999 P38 Range Rover). It looks to me like the independent rear suspension and spare tire location has rather seriously compromised the ground clearance compared to the...

    locking rear diff

Wow, this is better than I hoped for! This is more serious capability than my 1999 P38 Range Rover. As I understand it, I can down load material from the TOPIx site. Since I am after the service manuals, I guess I just need to pay for a relatively short period of time (enough to download). I...

    locking rear diff

Thanks guys, this is really helpful! I will register on TOPIx and see if I can get a workshop manual. On the 4x4 screen, it also indicated a locking central differential. I thought this had a viscous coupling unit, no? If not, then I guess it is not a true all-time 4x4 until the central diff...

    locking rear diff

I have a couple of initial questions regarding a new 2012 LR4; I'm sure there will be many more as I try to figure out this thing: 1. The LR4 came with an optional locking rear differential. No where in the owners manual does it say anything about how this is engaged (cannot be engaged on...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

need to reset oil level indicator? I read in the owners manual that the oil level indicator would need to be reset after and oil change. Is this the case? I presume only them can do a reset
