So, early adopter of the Rhino hitch. Probably a customer of the first or second production batch and with my early order Todd provided a small discount. That was probably 5 or 6 years ago. Initially upgraded from LR's "plow" because it was too low for forest service / off road excursions with...
Interesting perspective on the D7 Premium Lightweight aluminum platform vs the LR3/4. The D7 allowed LR to shed nearly 1000 lbs, at a cost of long term rigidity/robustness?
The higher volumes were built with Evoque's, Velar's and Disco Sports. JLR's plan was to challenge BMW with models and manufacturing. In the end JLR lost its character, sales leveled off but cost continued to rise. By 2019 they were taking billion dollar losses. Solution? Fire the CEO and...
Somewhat have noticed the firming of LR4 pricing. Some of it due to the shutdown of production and lack of a replacement. Pre-owned vehicle pricing has seen less of a depreciation. That said, the new Defender is a good truck but somewhat missed. Where Discovery 5 should have carried the torch...
Well since the new Defender is really an LR5 and there is reuse of technology across the product line and the same limitations will be encountered it's never really "signing off". I suspect many of the new Defender questions and observations will have already been discussed from a LR4...
Two tell tale signs.
- The bushings are loaded with oil. When some fail they can drip.
- Rolling up to and over a speed bump should feel tight. When they go you can feel a distinct 'bump' or play in the LCA.
$2400? for LCA's? Highway robbery. Should be half that.
In general tongue weight should be in the 10-13% of trailer weight range. Are you saying your tongue weight is zero or close to it? Or are you saying the WD was set up to counter the tongue weight? In this case I'm saying a measured 600 lb tongue weight was managed by setting up the WD to the...
Marketed and supported correctly Ineos Grenadier will do fine. Tesla broke the dealer model while International Scout highlighted a possible support model (sell them at your local ag dealer that also has 24/7 support)
The factory hitch plugs in below the bumper. It literally is a plow off road when wheelin and towing to campsite.
Plow - A farm implement consisting of a strong blade at the end of a beam, usually hitched to a draft team or motor vehicle and used for breaking up soil and cutting furrows in...
Ah, where to begin ...............
- Yes, the LR manual says the hitch is rated at 550 lbs although the truck is rated at 771 lbs. (don't ask why). Your hitch may actually say 770lbs which is class III
- The LR4 towing capacity is 7700 lbs
- The factory LR4 hitch hangs low and is a plow off...
So in addition to our Land Rover hobby we also tow trailers, in this case mostly camper trailers. A good resource for towing knowledge is Can-Am RV. Tow vehicles deal with some of the same issues. Found the following article relative to this thread:
Hitch Hints: Learn Something New Every Year...
I'm thinking the problem some have with Land Rover has been building for many years. The latest products have moved away from the customer base. Reflect on Evoque (fashion statement), Discovery 5 (less than successful) and now Defender (looks like a Honda Element). Underneath there is good...
I'm not sold on the styling but the underlying engineering works for me. If anything they need to improve the engine selection. The 4cyl is too small and the 6cyl is too expensive both upfront and likely long term. The 130 needs to have a V8 that is not MHEV.
