Left (driver) front fender flare wheel arch question

Good advice, guys. The restorer has already ordered a batch of Santorini Black metallic and is aware of the surface texture difference in the parts now.

Left (driver) front fender flare wheel arch question

Yesterday I got sideswiped by a large auto transport trailer that came through my neighborhood. The driver is also a car restorer and was great about taking care of the damage. Remarkably even though the impact tore off some metal and plastic/wiring pieces from his trailer, the Rover only...

    Blinding splash issue

As far as I’m concerned, this is a feature, not a design flaw. I have come to anticipate it, adjust accordingly, and enjoy the outlandish curtains of water. Always makes me feel like a kid again!

    Refueling out on the trail

I like how Texans roll (state of my birth).

What should I strip off this LR3 for spare parts for my LR4?

Looks like it has an aftermarket hitch. I wonder if the hood latch sensor and brake switch would be worth picking. You are right, the exterior looks great.

    Aluminum crossovers exist now! (maybe)

It will last until the day I firmly state that I will never sell it. Later that day I will get a handsome offer for it, and then the timing chains will slap the engine into oblivion. That’s how the universe works.

    FS : 2011 LR4 HSE LUX

I agree, seems like a good deal especially to those of us who have seen your posts here and know that you’re a Rover guy. GLWTS

1-Yr Check-in and Trouble Code Rant

What’s your IG account, @cjm41 ? I’m sure I’ve seen and liked your photos there via my @districtrover account. Nice shots and good luck tracking down the issues you reported.

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

I’ve committed to premium fuel (Top Tier only unless in a pinch) and the lavishly priced golden nectar Castrol oil. I think my average mpg is in the 16-17 range. Every now and then my wife will comment on a gas station that had a low price for regular. Based on my reaction I think she’s figured...

    Intermittent rear hatch issues

I love these guys and had not seen this video but wish I had. I bought the full replacement kit from AB which came with 3 items (one of them for the upper gate I didn’t use so I returned it). I did use the new moisture barrier they provided because the original one gets messed up when you peel...

    Intermittent rear hatch issues

Very safe bet that it's the actuator; and also a safe bet that you are on borrowed time. Mine would also work intermittently with the fob and a well-timed pull. However I would not rely on that for very long. Once the actuator takes a dirt nap, this fix goes from fun to fiendish.

    Safari Gard Hippo Hitch

I love the way my Thule 2-bike tray carrier sits in the Rhino. However I'm sure that the overhang would impact departure angle if I drove offroad. Seems like one of those strap and hook carrier designs would keep the bikes pretty far off the ground (short of a roof mount but who wants to do that...

    First Oil Change Notes

Wow, I never even thought of trying one of the tubes w/o the adapter. And I never thought of the disaster of dropping an adapter down the fill tube. Thanks for scaring the bejeezus out of me now!

    Safari Gard Hippo Hitch

The price point makes it a solid alternative to the OEM dongle, and there are a lot of advantages to the higher mounting location along the back bumper which is a feature of both the Rhino and this Hippo.

    First Oil Change Notes

I remember this as well. I learned to add a pair of needle nose pliers to my tools for this job. I grab the adaptor as far down its length as possible so that I don’t damage the lip of it and jeopardize the seal. This allows me to gently and slowly pull it off the tube. This is an interesting...

    A/C Question After Engine Replacement

When I was inspecting my current 2013 before purchase, it wasn’t blowing cold. The (non-LR) dealer took it back to the shop for a quick freon charge and it’s been fine ever since. You are right to start with the easy stuff first.

    Safari Gard Hippo Hitch

Sharing this for general interest. The Safari Gard Hippo Hitch caught my eye when I saw it on IG recently (@safarigardLLC). I’m happy with my Rhino Hitch but nice to see other thick-hided beasts getting into the game. Fitment for LR3/LR4 and RRS. Latest pricing I saw was $450 + S&H when you go...

    Driver door not locking

Glad you completed the project. Don’t forget to factor in the satisfaction of DIY. But I’m with you, if it took you 4 hrs+ in addition to the cost of the part (not to mention all the quarters you dropped into the cuss jar) then outsourcing it would have gotten you to the cold beers with a lot...

    Driver door not locking

I tried looking for a thread I started on this topic but could only find one that I commented on, sorry. I had a driver’s door actuator replaced in my 2011 after somewhat similar symptoms. Fixed me right up.

Trailer Hitch Receiver from Atlantic British?

i’m not using the AB solution but I’ve looked into it. For a rack or tray use case I would not hesitate to go that route. Looks plenty sturdy for that and AB stands behind their stuff.

    Selling the LR4

Hey, the fact that you’ve seen it happen more than a few times should tell you something. I said up front that my post was as much about group therapy as it was a search for hard input. This is a gang of Land Rover owners, after all! BTW you’re right on all points you made. The bonding with...

    Selling the LR4

No question there, but my needs have changed slightly. I could make an L405 cargo space work for my situation now that I’m not routinely moving kids between college housing and doing other stuff like that. I’d still need to haul the occasional load of mulch but mostly it would just be me, or at...

    Selling the LR4

That’s good to know. I now have a regular 50-mile drive that would make me a good candidate for a diesel. That is, if I decide to make a change. I inspected and test-drove the 2016 SCV6 RR. It was everything I expected it to be in terms of comfort, style, tech, and performance. On the way back...

    Selling the LR4

The one I’m looking at later today is the SCV6. Yes I’ve had my fun lording my 5.0L V8 over the 2014+ owners but from all accounts the SCV6 is a very capable power plant and the L405 seems to be a bit lighter than the LR4. My indy mechanic warned me away from the Td6 because of the sensors. I’m...

Prospeed ladder installed - tailgate struts need help

You’ve probably already ordered, received, and installed them by now, but mine are also doing great. So great in fact that I haven’t even thought about them since putting them on, if that tells you anything. I have a ladder mounted on the passenger side and they have no problem opening the hatch...
