    Possible collapsed lifter solution

So after having done my head gaskets, I have a ticking noise coming from somewhere around cylinder 7. It ticks at idle, steady and with the RPMs. Will tick louder under load (accelerating or climbing) but almost disappears entirely when not under load (cruising on the freeway or on slight...

    2003 discovery - battery lasts 6 months

Turns out that the starter I bought was also bad, so after a $150 diagnosis and 40 min I have a working disco.

    2003 discovery - battery lasts 6 months

So now I have a real issue. My discovery is not starting. What I originally thought may be a battery issue is not. I also pulled the starter and the test at the part store came back inconclusive, the tester wouldn't take it (saying no good connections). So now it has a new starter but still...

    2003 discovery - battery lasts 6 months

Joey, cables aren't terribly stiff, would like to check the alternator, but its not starting right now. I drive the rover fairly often. Not daily, but it does get probably 100-150 miles a week. I had been driving it all day Saturday and Sunday and it didn't start for the drive home on Sunday...

    2003 discovery - battery lasts 6 months

About one year ago I replaced the battery in my discovery. Nothing specific, just an autozone battery, low cost (duramax I think). It lasted about 6 months and died. Weird I thought, but just bad luck. Warranty swap at no cost and i'm running again. Now 6 months later and another dead battery. I...

    Overheating, water pump or radiator

Switched the thermostat hoses yesterday and my engine temp is steady around 186 F. I tightened the bleed screw too much and it sheared :hmpf: seems like every 2 steps forward, there is one step back. I'm going to see if I can salvage one off an old disco today, if not then i'll order the BMW...

    Overheating, water pump or radiator

Much to my dismay, I have to admit I am a complete moron. On a whim I decided to look through the coolant system diagram in the RAVE manual. I realized that in my hurry to test my head gasket replacement I rushed through the thermostat. On closer inspection, i realized that I have swapped the...

    Overheating, water pump or radiator

So here is the story. Valley pan gasket went out and i started leaking massive amounts of coolant. Got a ridiculous quote for an upper intake manifold gasket as the issue so I decided to do it myself. Decided to replace a few more gaskets while i was at it since I was close. Head gaskets, upper...

    Err7202

Hi all, I am currently putting my engine back together after a head gasket job. I bought a gasket kit from atlantic british and seem to have run into a problem. The coolant outlet pipe from the lower intake manifold has an oring (in attached pic from rave). I believe the part number is ERR7202...

    Disco 2 overheating issues

Yesterday my discovery 2 (2003 with 108k miles) started having some overheating issues. It started overheating after sitting at long stop lights when I wasn't moving. Going anywhere in the 10-15 mph range would solve the issue. Drove it on the highway that night for 1-2 hours. Today it overheats...

    2003 discovery 2 A/C not working

I checked with my friend over the weekend. His pressure gauge read around 40-44 PSI on the low side when the engine was running. Should I go back and verify what has already been done, or will the problem be elsewhere?

    2003 discovery 2 A/C not working

Any advice on things to watch out for on this particular model? I have done quite a few projects, so not the beginner DIY. I usually do my own repairs as they come up on my own vehicles. AC is something that I have never had to deal with before. I try to follow the repair guides on autozone.com...

    2003 discovery 2 A/C not working

I'm not sure, it has been a few months since I checked it with the gauge. it is a secondary car so I didn't worry about it during the winter. I didn't have any experience with it so I let my friend check it. I will purchase a kit and check myself tomorrow.

    2003 discovery 2 A/C not working

I used a friends gauge to check the pressure. I don't remember the exact reading, but it had a "Green" zone where the pressure should be. It was on the higher end of the green zone. I have never charged an AC system before, is it something I should double check. What should the reading be?

    2003 discovery 2 A/C not working

I have a 2003 discovery 2 with just under 100k miles. The AC hasn't been working for a while. It quit blowing cold air and then quit blowing any air at all about a month later. I had the blower motor wiring fixed (blown connector above the blower motor) which got the air blowing again, but still...
