Hi Carl, good luck with the laptop issue. Somehow my old slow garage laptop continues to read codes so I’m ok for now :). (Trying to do anything else is painful though...) No smog here but I’m moving back to a place with smog testing next year. I’ll stay hopeful. Cheers! David -

One bearing had delaminated babbit material. I discussed with the machine shop and they said if the head gasket had gone and coolant went on the camshaft and sat in the bearing it could cause the material to become porous and wipe off. That was bearing no.4. The engine has 130000 miles. I dis... -

That’s what I did. I ended up replacing the camshaft and found a bad cam bearing. So I did the cam bearings (except no.5 as the engine is in). It’s running now!! Thanks David -

Morning! I started a head-gasket job job on the 04 Disco and just came to finding this last night (see pictures). I’m really puzzled. All the worn lifters (and one appears to be pitted) are on the driver side and what do I do now? The pictures show the worst ones. The cam appears nice, I think... -

Is SAI drawing that much?
It does. Do you know i I can still drive the truck once I have removed the pump? I rebuilt the one on my audi allroad last year so I figure this one probably needs the same: bearings. But I need to be able to drive the truck the few days it will be off. -

Well the lights did some dimming / pulsing today so I popped the bonnet and put my hand on the SAI pump and each time the lights would dim momentarily I would feel the pump jitter a bit kind of like if a solenoid had activated. It starts to really look like the pump is seized. -

I just finished doing the lower intake gasket, rocker cover gaskets, plugs and wires on my 2004 DII. Before I did the job I thought I could hear the SAI scream the last few weeks. But once the work was done I don't anymore and I get the SAI code. So I thought it could be leaking or I missed a... -

I think the slow dropping is due to the valve but the faults that keep coming on, I'm not quite sure... it goes in fault even when it's up so I don't know. I might need to get the dealer to plug it in the computer. -
