    Michilin, Goodyear or Nokian? (19")

I am in sand and mud only. Lots of hwy travel. Since purchasing lr4, i have put over 10,000 miles in just a few months. I have had duratracs nearly the entire time and love them...so far so good. I, personally, find them to wear most even when at lr factory psi recs, unless loaded down. I...

New Voyager Low Profile Roof Rack and Ladder

glad to be of assistance. like i mentioned above, i would have gone with the standard size if height would not have been an issue. with the low profile, i can fit in my garage and, furthermore, since i am less than 8', it enables to go in some parking structures when carrying the skybox. to...

New Voyager Low Profile Roof Rack and Ladder

The wind faring does protrude ever so slightly above the front top rail. However, a small piece of one by wood strip zip tied will likely fix the issue... I have not toted a boat or canoe yet. I will keep you posted once the time comes

New Voyager Low Profile Roof Rack and Ladder

They have a removable cross bar, which will enable me to do a few things without committing to an additional bar at a fixed location: 1) locate it relatively close to the front support bar (about 32") to accommodate my skybox; 2) move to the very back when carrying a boat or other object that...

New Voyager Low Profile Roof Rack and Ladder

After a lot of searching, i finally decided on the Voyager. I was leaning towards the Rhino Pioneer; however, the lack of user reviews really pushed me in the direction of the voyager. The single largest "pro" to the Rhino was that it was aluminum (i live in FL and will tote boats, canoes, etc.)...

Great looking ride. I like the wheels. Always been a fan of the simple, standard w holes look.

Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform and Batwing Awning

ugh.. sorry for all of the frustrating outcomes. The wind fairing piece is certainly attractive; however, there has got to be a way that they could extend it forward so that it begins at the leading edge of the rack itself (in lieu of being interior) - like a horizontal thin plate or...

Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform and Batwing Awning

What an excellent post. Thanks so much for taking the time to put all of this information down. I'm confident that it will help others on their journey. When I was reviewing roof racks, I could find nothing on this particular set up and it happen to be the exact one that I was leaning...

Any experience with the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform?

All of the voyager line. The rhino racks with backbone system. Front runner comes with their own mounting system.

Any experience with the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform?

Great solution. However, they do appear to now offer one - maybe it is newer since you were looking: http://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products/roof/wind-fairings/wind-fairings/pioneer-wind-fairing-1130mm-44-_43249

Any experience with the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform?

I'm continuing to watch this thread with interest. As I mentioned above, I really like the pioneer elevation. And, I would probably pull the trigger, if I could find out more from someone first hand about the wind noise when accompanied w/ rhino fairing system and "back bone". Regarding your...

    paddles on steering wheel...yuck

Thanks for your response. Yes, I meant off road. My off road driving can be fairly fast and does not include any rock crawling. Regardless, I'm always open to trying something different and learning from others. Only has them (lr4) for a few months now, I will try and find value.

    paddles on steering wheel...yuck

Maybe i am in the minority here, but i hate the location of the paddles. i am constantly hitting them when i get aggressive with the steering wheel - i like to use the palm of my hand against the wheel/spoke area to quicky turn and my fingers jam into the paddles. I have searched and found...

Any experience with the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform?

glad you asked because i, too, am interested in feedback on this item. One quick point from your post, if i understand the system correctly, you would not need the "backbone" because you have the long rails on your truck. The backbone is for folks like me who have no rails installed. In any...

Too funny...your just across the river/ICI from me. From that view, it does look like it could be south of Guana between the airport and serenata; however, it is actually just south of Savannah Georgia along the Ogeechie River in the "true Low-country" :-)

    Gobi Roof Rack

In the absence of the FR load bar kit available here in the US, i am now looking at roof racks. I like the voyager; however, based on my need to carry canoe and Jon boat, i am a little concerned about the rubbing against the wind flaring up front. Not a deal killer because i am sure there is a...
