I had to cut my bolts off with an air powered cut-off tool. Maybe they are pop riveted on. I used stainless nuts, bolts and washers when installing the new flaps.
My 94 Disco has the dreaded the curled dash syndrome. I recall reading somewhere that there was a repair available that basically gave you mouldings that are screwed down though the front edge of the dash thereby flattening everything out. Does anyone know who is currenly selling these...
Well, not to bust balls here correcting you, but the fact is these vehicles have ALUMINUM blocks with STEEL liners. When overheated badly, the steel liners have been known to move in their bores.
Converting to springs isn't exactly cheap, but once done you have no more worries. If staying with air ride check out Arnott. Their air springs a vastly better than original and have a lifetime warranty.
I just acquired a 94 Disco. After washing it, I noticed a puddle of water on the front floor mats. I found that when water is sprayed in the area where the windshield wipers are located, water eventually leaks from under the lower dash area on both the driver's and passenger's side. Is this a...
A common failure point on all P38 models is the air suspension. There are some expensive components in the system that will cost you big bucks to repair. Many people just convert to regular springs and that's that, no more problems.
Regarding a specific year to stay away from, I have...
I purchased Luxor "B" blade refills at the local auto supply (R&S Strauss) to replace the rubbers in the original windshield wiper blades of my 97 Range Rover. The refills were longer than needed for the windshield wiper blades, so I cut off the excess. No problem. I than was left with a...
Regarding the check engine light, there are manufacturer specific codes that can trigger the check engine light and that cannot be read or reset with the generic OBD II scanning tool. You may have to see the dealer on this one.
Check for ignition spark when problem presents itself. If no spark, might be the ignition module. They are known to be problematic when they get hot especially on cars with the module located on the distributor.
I've bought from tirerack before with no problems. They shipped to my door via UPS. I've also used discounttire.com with good results. Most recently, I got the best price around for a couple michelin XPC from mavistire.com.
Finding a place to mount tires you didn't buy from them can be a...
Yep, the 89 Rangie has a nice supple ride. Not truck-like at all. I had one for ten years myself and really liked it. A criticism of the supple ride was that it leaned too much on turns when on the road. As a result, front and rear stabilizer bars were added in the 1990 model year. There was...
It simply means there is a fault in the traction control system. Could be any number of things causing it. I hate to say it but I think you'll have see the dealer on this.
It could very well be the O2 sensors. If you have over 75,000 miles on them it wouldn't be a waste of money to replace both of them. Fortunately, to reset the light, you don't have to see the dealer. All you have to do is disconnect the battery and then reconnect it. The light will come back...
Well, before you drop the big bucks on a new pump, how about trying one of those snake oil products that you add to your fluid that are supposed to stop leaks? You've got nothing to loose, right?
What you need to do is remove the lower bell housing plate and carefully insert a large screw driver or pry bar so to engage a tooth on the ring gear and hold the screw driver tight against the bell housing so it won't move when you try to loosen the crank bolt using a long breaker bar. This is...
Condensation is normal but it is usually vaporized when the engine is run at operating temperature for a while. If you do a lot of around town driving or short trips, the engine may never get hot enough to vaporize the condensation. If that is the case, change the oil frequently.
Just a guess, but you might want to try getting gas at another station. It could be that the vapor recovery system on the pump wasn't working causing a pressure buildup in your tank.
It's really impossible to give you a definitive answer based on the information you've given. Get yourself a can of starting fluid and the next time you have the problem spray a little into your intake. If the car starts and then dies, you know it's a fuel issue. If it doesn't start, then...
