Engine Tune Up / Fuel Cleaner

Tranny is not hard, but it will likley be a bit messy. I was glad I did mine just recently on my 05 with 62k on it. The fluild that came out was still ok, but worse than I expected. When you refill, remember to start the car and run through the gears, and then check back on fluid level...

Engine Tune Up / Fuel Cleaner

I would not be surprised if you got your MAF sensor dirty. If you travel in dusty/dirty/dirty water conditions the sensor can get an amazingly light coating on it and it gets confused. I had this happen while travelling dirt/dusty roads and was able to resolve it after cleaning the sensor...

    Hood sensor

Don't forget that the sensor may just need to be cleaned. Prior to trying to disable/rig it, try cleaning it. A coating of dust is sometimes enough to cause a problem. A couple of times now, after travel on dirt/dusty roads for some amount of time, I would get the warning msg. After...

    Spark Plug Service

I completed this a few weeks ago at 62k miles. It is easy as long as you have a BIG selection of extensions, and u-joints. This can't be underestimated. To be able to pull the plug out, you need the right length, which varies by which cylinder you are on and the surrounding impediments...

    Ruling out the possibilities

Yes, mine did the exact same thing, looked the same way, and oddly, under the same circumstances. At lunch, went in to a store and came out about 20min later to a perfectly shattered sunroof. This is in TX. Long story short, at first the LR dealership said that they could not cover it under...

    Transmission Fault 2006 LR3

The transmission fluid is expensive, and the ZF HP26 transmission takes a lot of it. A fluid change will take 6 quarts. They are about $25 each. I ordered 7 as I have power fill that works best with fluid still in the filler while getting the exact amount in the transmission. The filter is...

    Transmission Fault 2006 LR3

Just ordered $400 worth of tranny fluid, pan/gaket/filter. Will be doing first flush at 63k miles on my 05 HSE. No problems so far. I am religous with the diffs. I had the rear diff replace about 3k miles ago and just replaced the fluid. It was amazing how much metal particles were in the...

    Suspension Fault After Brake Change

What does the screen say as far as heights? Are any sensors flahsing red? Test/charge the battery as they may have left things on, doors open, etc. Check the ride height sensors visually, and the connectors.

Water is leaking inside my truck!

This is a common problem on some LR3s. Check the sunroof drain tubes, A-Pillar molding clips, and the windshield cowling for warping.

    Another Check Engine Light

Not heard much about the O2 sensors going bad at all. Noticed you menitoned you just did your first oil change also. Any chance you disturbed the O2 sensors or wires when you changed the oil and messed with the skid plate? (When I do mine, I put a small bottle jack under the skid plate in the...

    control arm bushings -

It can also become noticable when you get your alignment done, as if they are worn bad enough, the tech's won't be able to get the alignment to stay in spec.

    Traxide/Battery Light Question

Ah, you are reading to litteraly. Both comments are totally correct. The Traxide can mask a failing cranking battery early in the failing cycle. It will add power to the cranking battery while connected. However, it then will disconnect from the cranking battery if the cranking battery...

    Traxide/Battery Light Question

Hey perkj, I think you must be reading something wrong. The Traxide will protect your main battery from a drain that would not allow the cranking battery from starting the LR3. Say you are running a fridge over the weekend, and have both the main and 2nd battery connected. The Traxide joins...

    Traxide/Battery Light Question

I have the Traxide setup and one thing to keep in mind. If the cranking battery is going bad, typically it will drop below 11.4 volts on startup. In order to protect the discharge of the cranking battery, the Traxide will then disconnect the secondary battery. I was able to tell my main...

    Does anyone use MANN products?

MANN is fine. I used their filters on my Audi A6 4.2 and Audi A4 2.8 all the time.

LR3 When it rains it pours inside

There have been cases of the a pillar trim connectors leaking. IIRC, the connectors/snaps have a tiny gasket and that helps seal the whole where the connector goes in. Also, check your cabin filter. See if it is wet or not.

    Center Console help

I don't recall any screws. It has about six tabs that snap it in/out. An interior trim panel tool set works the best; however, I suppose you can you any thin and skinny pastic piece that you can slip under the rim. Becareful, as the tabs are somewhat easy to break off.

    Center Console help

You can likely pull the panel with the aux input and seat heaters right out of the console. It snaps in and out.

    Anti-Freeze

You can look in the owners manual and I believe it says: Texaco XLC, with one part antifreeze to one part water for protection down to -33°F (-36°C). Last time I looked for it, I got it from the dealer.

Looking at an 06 LR3, help needed

how funny, If you read my posts I have not said a single thing about the V6. Not a single thing about the V6. I mearly corrected posts about how scary the V8 is since it has all the new tangled stuff like DOHC, 32 valves, etc. Come on. . . My only point has been that the V8 is well regarded...

    Extended Warranties

I just purchased my second Ford ESP warranty on my 2005 LR3. I have had the ESP, and I just purchased it again as the old one was expiring. 3yrs 24k miles for $2620. That is on my 2005 with 61,924 miles. This is for the best ESP warranty that covers everything bumper to bumper. PremiumCare...

Looking at an 06 LR3, help needed

Facts are facts. The AJ-V8 has been around for more than a decade. It came out in the mid 90's. It has won awards and is generaly acknowledged as being a troublefree piece. It is the one thing that almost everyone doesn't have to worry about in the LR3. Many people that read these...

Looking at an 06 LR3, help needed

Hey, is AZ LR3 the one selling you his v6 LR3? That was the biggest support of the Ford V6 I have evern seen in more than a decade around the V8 engine in the LR3. His take is quite the opposite of what is generally accecpted about the V8 and V6 in the industry, and in some cases flat out...
