There she blows, (maybe coolant crossover)

Yes, manifold is the term that LR uses in the shop manual for the pipe that connects the two banks on the rear of the engine. That's the part that fails, at least it did on my LR4.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

Checking back in - have been spending all my attention on the full fat Rangie. As for the LR4, I've decided not to part it out - too much time commitment. I'm going to try to find a good home for it in one piece here in the Auburn area, it would make an epic Rubicon ride for someone.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

Totally happy with these tires. They spent most of their time on dry/flat, but spent a lot of time in Tahoe snow.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

Yes, original chains/guides/tensioners. I did replace the crossover pipe and water pump at about 150k, injectors at about 200k, front air struts around 140k (both sides) and of course LCAs and many many front brake rotors/pads over the years. She was driven hard with an average of 25k...

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

Our 2010 LR4 HSE has reached the end of our journey together. On Sunday, at 245k miles, she finally skipped time due to loose chains (they had started making noise about 20k ago so I knew what was coming). So my question is, what to do with her? Copart will give me $2,200 and tow it away, which...

LR4 V8 smog help - catalytic monitor won't get to ready state

No CEL, no stored codes and the O2 sensors seem to test fine. I've been driving for over 200 miles, all types of driving, and can't seem to get this third monitor set. The other two are ready for testing. I did find a 'Long drive cycle test' in a service manual for a Jag XK V8 with same engine...

LR4 V8 smog help - catalytic monitor won't get to ready state

2010 LR4 V8 with 240k miles. Trying to get CA smog, but the catalytic monitor won't get to ready state, so it won't pass smog (the other two monitors do pass - O2 and Evap). Injectors were replaced last year and the fuel trims look ok (within +/- 4%). 1) anyone have this issue? 2) is there a...

    Replacing Front Strut Assemblies

I've done this twice now (stupid air leaks) and a flex-head ratcheting wrench makes all the difference getting at those nuts on the top.

    2011 LR4 - Parking Brake Won't Engage

No, not yet - maybe we got lucky. Oil changes done at 5-7k intervals. However we did have to recently replace all injectors and both HPFPs - running rich, leaking into the block. Now the engine runs like new. Also, crossover pipe and water pump(s), hoses, thermo, etc. all replaced over the...

    2011 LR4 - Parking Brake Won't Engage

2010 LR4 w/225k miles on her. I heard the same advice from a rover mechanic and stopped setting the EPB at about 50k. Hasn't been a problem. I also don't bed the PB pads when I do rear rotors, since they don't get used. I just crank the adjustment wheel back enough so they don't engage (I...

    V8 LR4 - Ticking Noise at Idle

to be honest, I can't remember having them ever done. The dealer might have done it when it was still under warranty, but that was years ago and I don't remember.

    V8 LR4 - Ticking Noise at Idle

I have a 2010 HSE which had a similar sound. The sound went away once we replaced the fuel injectors and HPFPs. But this was at 205k miles, so the sound wasn't the only thing wrong (some injectors were fouled and the HPFPs were leaking into the block). Now it runs like a new engine again.

2008 LR3 overheating -coolant not circulating

You could have a leak in the throttle body. Have you tried pressure testing the system cold?

    Overheating after coolant crossover replacement

Thanks for the encouragement. I finished it today and everything is working great, so far no leaks and I didn't manage to break any of the hard PCV lines. The rear heater manifold crossover pipe was a bit rough though, not a lot of access. Wouldn't want to do that again anytime soon. Dealer...

    Overheating after coolant crossover replacement

So I'm about to do the same job on my 192k 2010 LR4. I'm also going to do the heater manifold crossover pipe on the rear side of the engine (that's where my primary leak is). Is there anything I should know before removing the intake manifold? Any tips, tricks or things to watch out for?

    p0172 and p0175 running rich

This just started happening to my 2010 LR4 with 187k miles on it. I've checked the air filters (clean, no oil) and cleaned the MAFs, but the codes come back in a day or two. Do you really think I need two MAFs (would they both go bad at the same time?). Could it be O2 sensors? or something else?

Is it possible to remove the middle seat

I've done it, on my 06 LR3... here's the thread. Looks like my old gallery pix were lost in the site failure, so I'll see if I still have them around. http://forums.landroverworld.org/showthread.php?t=4312
