Retrofit Locking Rear Differential?
It is possible to physically install the rear locker, but it is very impractical to integrate it with the vehicle electrical system. A new main wiring harness is required along with a new locker ECU and a probably a new main ECU or at least new software. The rear locker is a stepper motor... -

Best place for gearing?
Yes, my '95 5-speed ran just fine but struggled on the highway towing my 4500lb boat/trailer with the 265/75's on it. Like I said, depends on what you plan on doing with it.- PCRover

Best place for gearing?
3.9L + 32" tires = marginal power IMHO. Depends on what you expext out of your Rover. I would try it first than decide if you want/need gearing.- PCRover
