HDC Fault, NAV Memory and Battery Lifespan

The HDC fault on startup is diagnostic of a dead battery or poor battery connections. After you replace the battery, see if the HLDF issues continue - my guess is they will be gone. But if not, they may be due to poor earth connections. BTW, you may receive better advice at rrsport.co.uk

    Thoughts on faults

It's likely not battery-related if happening with the engine running (although possible). However, if this is happening on startup, then it likely is battery (the transfer box range change is cycled diagnostically when starting, and throws this fault when the range change motor is under-juiced)...

    Lamp Assembly Rear High

Yep, the high-mount stop lamp is glued in place. If you're set on DIY, PM me your email and I'll get you the replacement procedure.

    Skid Plates...

You may want to hold off for a month or two. Both Safari Gard (www.safarigard.com) and RTE (www.rovertym.com) are rumored to be coming out with sliders for the LR3 in that time frame. You may end up sticking with the RS sliders but at least you'll have a wider range from which to choose.

Bushing Replacement - Front/Rear bottom or all?

I think the initial difficulty with the new replacement parts had to do with their very limited availability which may have passed, and might not be an issue any longer.

    Block heater?

LR Block heater part # VUB504640. Cord that goes to it is non-LR part so not sure about that part #. I was looking into retrofitting a gas version of the fuel burning heater (so I wouldn't need remote start) and tripped across this. It's not really what I was looking for but I filed it away.

Bushing Replacement - Front/Rear bottom or all?

If the upper bushings aren't worn, then replacing them is a waste. More importantly, if the lower bushings are worn, likely too are the lower ball joints. The ball joints were recently redesigned (released 6mo. ago). Not sure if the drama has subsided as initially the new parts were not...

See thread here. Good photos of sunroof drains and also how to get inside the headliner if it comes to that.

    Magnaflow Exhaust Design Concepts

Just follow the link I posted on the previous page for the part #. Online dealers will probably not have their inventory systems updated for anywhere from a week to a month - although performancepeddler.com did come up with a price .

    Magnaflow Exhaust Design Concepts

I wasn't trying to bust your chops. I understand that pre-product engineering costs need to get amortized within the early-adopter segment of the market, and I think that's reasonable. I was mostly just curious... [because of the platform similarities between the LR3 and the RR Sport]...

    Magnaflow Exhaust Design Concepts

I did a little follow-up with this... Magnaflow Cat-Back for 05~08 LR3 4.0 & 4.4L Availability says 20 on-hand. Definitely going on when the stock exhaust dies. :shakehand Maybe sooner! Not sure why the price premium difference though... Magnaflow Cat-Back for 06~08 RRS...

    Mis-matched Spare

I would test it briefly around the neighborhood before relying on it. At the least, I think you'll probably want to turn off DSC...

    What is the beep?

The sensors are ultrasonic and occasionally do go off when a large or fast vehicle goes by while you're stationary (for example, at a left-hand turn lane). Mostly, they go off from road spray kicked up by semis, but I'm sure that could happen with desert dust too. Very rarely, the rears go off...

    Wiring Roof Rack Lights

Whoa! :ahhhhh: (but also one must learn somewhere how to drive the Dakar ) Is that in Anza-Borrego?

    Wiring Roof Rack Lights

Not to be rude but those don't look like 4000s. Rallye 4000's don't seem so bulbous as the lamps in your photo. Here's a photo of a 4000 at roughly the same aspect and you can barely see the rear portion of the lamp housing. Also, the mounting base doesn't have a gooseneck...

Dual Battery - Traxide - Real company?

The LR3 comes with a dedicated aux battery compartment - where the brake booster is. A D34 Yellow Top fits in there. The aux battery tray even has hold-down threaded inserts - a set of replacement bolts for your main battery with a hold-down bar from Pep Boys is all that's required there...

Dual Battery - Traxide - Real company?

Sure, one plus is accessories - like a refrigerator for beer at your Mens-O40 Sunday soccer game.... :stupid: But that's just me. Another reason is that electrical winches demand alot - current loads can approach or exceed 500A. So you could switch to combine both batteries...

    Expedition Roof Rack Questions...

The "real" load is way more than 114lbs - more like 400 lbs. The G4s had full-sized spares, bikes, kayaks, and other gear up there during some interesting off-roading. Rack loads are rated primarily by the attachment points to the vehicle - in this case, 10 M8s for the entire rack. BUT, the...

    Dash illumination delay

The LR3 has a pretty sophisticated electrical load management system. It monitors the battery charge, desired electrical loads (switch settings), and alternator output. The CJB enables certain blocks of circuits based on the current battery charge. Interior illumination is one of the last...

Dual Battery - Traxide - Real company?

Yes - Traxide is a real co. & there are definitely US installs. However, I put in the Hellroaring isolator (which was recently reviewed in Overland Journal). The Hellroaring isolator is solid-state, minimal voltage drop (<0.02V) and high current - the best of all worlds. The Hellroaring...

Please post photos of your Hella 4000s on your roof rack. I think it would be the first Hella 4000s roof rack picture on a D3/LR3 site...

    Suspension Conversion

I would definitely call Land Rover NA Customer Service (PM me if you need the number) and explain the situation. Explain that the vehicle has been in x times for the same problem - ie, air suspension dangerously unpredictable, raises and lowers while driving, drops to bump stops, etc. - and that...

    Rubbing Noise

It probably is the EPB (which can make several different types of noises depending on what is wrong), but it might be something else. Can you be more descriptive of the sound, its location and what you're doing when it happens? For example, is it a low-pitch hum/groan or mid-pitch whirr or...
