    LR3 Small Mystery Coolant Leak

I replaced my water pump earlier this year with one made by GMB. It was less than $50. A lot of the Jaguar guys say that the water pump needs to have a plastic impeller, not a metal one, due to cavitation issues.

I've used it for many years on my 05 LR3, including a pan conversion and filter change last year. No issues that I am aware of.

    LR3 Small Mystery Coolant Leak

Did you try spraying soapy water on hoses and cooling system parts when you were doing the pressure test?

How long are LR3 radiators good for?

Yes, the plastic hose connects are part of the radiator. I don't think they could reasonably be replaced with brass ones. They are located too close to the edge of the radiator. One fellow on the disco3 site did this to the expansion tank hose connect to provide additional support: Oddly...

How long are LR3 radiators good for?

An old thread, but... I put in a new radiator last weekend at 160,000 miles. The radiator had developed some stress cracks where the upper radiator hose connects. Coolant had been leaking there for at least a few thousand miles. The plastic that the hoses attach to had gotten brittle way before...

    Alarm going off

The "metal c" in the sensor. When the hood is closed, the latch presses on the metal c, which in turn presses on a switch. Closeup of the switch underneath the metal c. The metal c is not an electrical part in the sensor. It only provides a mechanical means for the latch to press on the...

    Alarm going off

My thumb is pointing to the release tab for the sensor plug. Press the tab and slide the plug off. At this point you can bypass the sensor, by shorting the plug with a piece of wire.

    Alarm going off

To illustrate what Christian Fiene was saying, the latching mechanism in question can be seen with the hood open, just above the grill on the passenger side of the vehicle. Use a screwdriver to push the plastic tabs in the squares marked by the red arrows. The sensor can now slide down and be...

    Dorman suspension compressor review

In August of 2016, I installed a new Dorman suspension compressor. I had thought about putting in an AMK, but being short on time and money, I decided to go with the convenience of working with something familiar. There would be no need to remove my sliders, deal with changes in plumbing, and no...

    Rear Brake Pads/Rotors.

I've changed the rear rotors twice in the life of my LR3. I didn't touch the parking brake at all during either of those jobs. Which is to say that the rotor will come off without having to adjust the parking brake.

how to make LR3 parking aid sounder/buzzer volume louder

If you redid the wiring and brought sound closer to the driver's seat, it will be louder. Half the distance equals double the loudness. When you have a car full of kids, it's hard to hear the sounder.

    Lockwood Creek/Miller Jeep Trail

Hee hee. That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to stay humble. He does have a rear diff locker though, something that I don't have, which is probably my only point of envy. I never had problems with the scissor jack, but mine died many years ago. I bought the bottle jack thinking it would...

    Lockwood Creek/Miller Jeep Trail

About a half mile after our field repair, my friend realized that something was wrong. Looking in the wheel well, we saw that the ratchet strap had slipped off. It was now getting dark and very cold, and I was concerned about getting off the trail. We decided to leave the truck on the trail and...

    Lockwood Creek/Miller Jeep Trail

This past Saturday a friend and I went offroading at the Lockwood Creek/Miller Jeep Trail just north of Los Angeles. My friend drove his Toyota Tacoma with 275/70/17 BFG KOs, lots of armor, bumpers, a winch, and a sizable lift, while I drove my LR3 with P265/60/18 Hankook Dynapro ATMs, sliders...

    LR3 Alternator Replacement

wcryer, thank you for the writeup! I just replaced my alternator over the weekend, and also used the opportunity to replace my two belts. There is a newer idle pulley that I put in as well. It is part number PQR500350. The newer version has raised guides that help keep the belt in position. As...

How to check the battery voltage with the settings menu

As far as I know, there is no way to monitor oil pressure or intake air temperature. I think there are OBD2 bluetooth devices that allow you to use your phone to see such data. The other useful thing about the 753 hack is allowing you to use a rearview camera if it is hooked up. I bought a...

How to check the battery voltage with the settings menu

If you have the factory navigation, you can check voltage. Press the right hard button on the navigation. You should now see screen buttons for Navigation, Settings, and 4x4 Info. Press and hold the top middle portion of the screen for about 5 seconds. Press and hold the left hard button until a...

    Coolant expansion tank leak fix

I had a leaking coolant expansion tank since early this year. There would often be a tiny puddle of coolant sitting at the top of the expansion tank, near the bleeder valve. The leak was small enough where I would only need to top up with coolant every couple of months. I had done numerous...

    Sudden Acceleration While Parking

Glad to hear you are ok Twinmomplus1. Please do keep us informed of what response LRNA and NHTSA gives. This is definitely a case where black box information will be scrutinized. As we saw with Toyota, unintended acceleration can be deadly. You mention that there were various consumer...

The obligatory "Show off your LR3' thread

My LR3 turned 10 years old last week. To celebrate, I took it off-roading in the hills. There are about 130,000 miles on the odometer, and over the years I've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into making sure the car is maintained. This is the only car I've ever purchased new, and...
