'98 Disco 1 Antifreeze leak

Good morning, question to the group. I've got a 98 Disco 1 and since I've had it(1 year) It's been losing antifreeze but never overheats. I can always smell it after driving, need to refill to level usually once a month but never have seen any leaks. My feeling was it might be the heater core so I disconnected/bypassed that and still have the issue. A friend said Valley Pan gasket? Says if leaking will smell but not over heat. Any thoughts before I dig in appreciated. Thanks

Could be water pump leaking starting to go bad, valley pan gaskets, bad head gasket will cause this as well. Also the fill tank could be leaking, mine did. Replaced with newer better version.

I have an 04 disco II that had similar symptoms, turned out the head gasket was nearly disintegrated.... So replaced just in time. Haven't lost a drop since and no more burning antifreeze smell after I park it. May not be your issue, but hope it helps.
