Why not just use the OEM cable it works fine in my 2011 with both my iPhone and iPod.

If I had an Apple product, sure.
But I don't.
Also I was looking for a wireless solution. Wireless charging with an audio cable just seems archaic.

I just bought the Bovee bluetooth adapter through Amazon. I'm amazed how well this works. It actually seems more responsive than the OEM cable I was using with my iPhone (starts playing faster, the steering wheel controls skip songs faster and the song display on the dash screen doesn't lag behind as much). As an added benefit, you can charge your phone a lot faster if it's plugged into the lighter/outlet than with the OEM iphone cable. Highly recommended.
