freelander buying advice

Hi,
I know little about freelanders but have been told to steer clear from petrols.
Have managed to win a diesel on ebay, a 1999 di although the seller has not yet made contact. I am wondering if i brought the right one, should i have gone for the td4? i have sinse been told the di's are not so good ,
Any advice would be great

Hi there 4gary4! How was your freelander going now? still using it? What land rover parts upgrades or mods did you already done on it? Actually, I'm asking you this because I'm planning to buy my friends freelander but I'm having 2nd thoughts if it's a good one to have.
