I have a 2005 LR3:
For the last couple months my parking brake lights (amber and red) flash on and off while driving.

It started with the amber light coming on, typically after a minute or so the red one would flash and then both lights would go off.

Now they are both flashing on and off very frequently each time I drive. Sometimes it is almost constant flashing and dinging. I recently had my car in to be serviced- and asked them to check it out (not a Land Rover dealer) and they said my brake fluid was low- they topped it off and said I should be ok- but the problem has continued.

I am going to bring it back into the auto shop (I am out of warranty- taking it to the dealer is too expensive) any ideas on what I could ask them to check?

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it? How much was it?

If you are not able to take it to the dealer then you need to find an independent shop that has the proper equipment to diagnose and service Land Rovers.

Is there a message in the Driver's Information Center that gives any hint as to what's going on?

There are no messages alerting me of a problem. Just the lights going on and off...?

I'll call my auto shop to confirm that they can properly diagnose my problem. Thank you!

Same thing happened on my 2007 LR3! The amber light would reandomly go on and off and no info in the MFI. But I got it fixed!

The culprit was the brake wear sensor had come loose on the front pads. My LR dealer replaced them and checked the pad's to ensure they were OK and the issue was resolved!

I bet you have the same issue...

Check your brake fluid level, that may be your only problem.

If it is the "Parking Brake" light I doubt it is a fluid level issue as the EPB doesn't use any!! Second if it isn't a "Land Rover Specialist" I would find someone else. You may have luck with a BMW specialist as the seven series has a very similar epb (So i'm told). There are seperate idiot lights for the Brakes and the EPB. If it is the EPB I really would recommend the dealer. They may be more expensive per hour but they will likely be able to properly diagnose and fix it the first time. After all they have been working on them since 2005 and most of them have only been out of warrenty for 1-2 years now. Doesn't leave much time for the indy's to learn the inner workings of the EPB and proper adjustment procedures.

Park brake light

I have a 2008 Range Rover HSE and I am also getting park brake system fault system unavailable message, but mine will not start the engine will not turn over at all. I just had the brake sensor cable replaced cause the brake light came on which the replacement of the cable turned off the brake light and now its the park brake light.
