Does anyone know why there are 2 different types of OEM rear brake pads listed for a 2012 LR4 in Atlantic British? One of them costs $110 and the other $150. Part #s LR055455G and LR015519G. It has a different VIN for each type of pad, but my VIN doesn't even come close to any of these. So what's the difference between the two?

I believe there were two types of rear calipers used for earlier build LR4s, cast iron and aluminum. Each caliper required its own pad IIRC. I have a TSB about that somewhere, I'll see if I can locate it.

Thanks Umberto. The guys from Atlantic British sold me the 5519 pads. They just got installed today and seem to work properly. Other than spending the additional $40, is there any potential danger or damage that can occur. I have a 16 month old son and wouldn't want to compromise my family's well being.

I very much doubt there will be any safety issues, but if your rear brakes start squeaking, that may be due to those pads applied in the wrong calipers.

Yup, mine are actually aluminum, too. So I guess the cast iron are the odd ones found on early 2010s, and the majority of us have aluminum calipers
