I wonder what two more cylinders would do for it. Oh wait.

If I had the option I would not take the extra 2 cylinders but have a turbo diesel instead, unfortunately that wasn't an option when I purchased mine.

I didn't think it was either. Not sure if the person I spoke to knew what he was saying, but looking around the net there's a bunch of different answers. Here's an article I found on the 4.0 saying that Jag actually developed the 4.0 and Ford used it in their lincoln LS. http://www.jagweb.com/aj6eng/v8_performance.php

As far as the 5.0, I have no clue. Don't really care, the V8 sounds too good to actually care where it derived from.

Sounds like it's not related to any Ford engines, and the older 3.9 was borrowed for a couple of cars during the period that Ford owned LR.
