Hello I am new to landrovers and have an ex military series 2a. I found the brakes very poor and have been working on them. I have replaced seized wheel cylinders and brake shoes. I have a query? two of the top pull of springs are fitted onto a post that is attached to the backplate. the other two brakes have the springs across the two shoes. Both cant be right. The springs that go to the post on the backplate mean that one shoe is only held by one spring. Any comment welcome. regards Kels

re series 2a brakes

just looking at my trusty haynes manual and this shows the brakes for a series 2a are twin springed front and rear. the only thing i can think of is that someone broke a spring at one time and never replaced with original. there are no diagrams with spring attached to backplate on any series 2, 2a,3 front or rear
