The tag on my seat recommends a Land Rover leather cleaning kit. Has anyone used this? Or what else are you using to clean the leather seats?

Also - how does the LR leather hold up? Anyone that has a LR tan leather with 100K miles...do you have any cracking on the leather?

My Dodge had leather seats. Looked like great leather and they recommended treating it twice a year, which I did. It still ended up cracking and looked awful by the time I traded it in.

I'm thinking of looking for a light seat cover for the LR3 to avoid this issue...problem is, then you don't get to enjoy your seats because you're protecting them! Kind of like those vinyl (sp?) sofa covers people used to use! Still, I'll use a cover if I find one that fits snug and is the best option.

I had a 2000 Discovery with about 88K miles on it, tan leather. I had absolutely no cracking in the leather. I used baby wipes to clean the leather, they have a natural conditioner in them. Since I have two young kids, I always have a ton of those wipes ready for use in my LR. Probably the better option would be a "real" leather cleaner and conditioner, but I wouldn't be able to recommend anything from a lack of experience.

The leather in my LR3 seems tough and rugged. In my Audi, I always used a towel under the car seat, as the bottom of it would leave indentations in the leather. I still use the towel, but the LR3 leather seems made to take more abuse.

And abuse is what I am planning:)

Short vertical section of front seats, facing the doors, seem to get dirty quickly. I used Lexol Leather Cleaner and Lexol Leather Conditioner. Worked great.

I use towels under both car seats in my LR as well, for my little kids. Plus, it helps catch those fast food french fries that somehow end up under the car seat.

If you want to protect the leather seats, treat them with a leather treatment of your choice, then cover them with seat covers. The seat covers will not only prevent 3rd degree burns on hot days when you get in wearing shorts, but they will also stop you sliding into the passenger seat on tight left hand bends. When it comes time to change out you vehicle, it will give the impression of "excellent condition" and therefore, more $ as a trade-in.

I have a new Dodge Magnum and have been using Zaino Brothers leather care and it works great. The car care kit includes leather cleaner & protector, which has an SPF15 protector. In fact I would reccommend all of their products. You can only get their stuff on the internet and it is a bit pricey but the professional system is the best car care products I have ever used. I especially reccommend using a clay bar on your new LR3's. You'll be amazed at how much crap it pulls out of your clear coat.

Cracking Leather/photos

My driver side leather thigh support finally cracked. Granted I bought this one used, so I can't speak for the weight of the previous owner, but I'm 160 lbs and at 20,000 miles it ripped. Anyone else have this issue or is your leather getting thin in the same place? Here is the unbelievable thing, I went to the dealer and they are going to replace the entire leather seat bottom no charge. I will have to give Kudos to the dealer on that one, since this is technically a "wear and tear" item and not covered under warranty.
