I was thinking about getting the discreet winch mount
from DAP. Will I have enough room with my skid plate?
Anyone have this set-up.

Looking at the pictures, I don't see how you'll have room. There are, IMHO, two problems with those discreet mounts:

(1) They end up down in the muck if you get buried (assuming muddy trails and not Utah style slickrock)

(2) They put a very expensive accessory down near obstacles.

Yeah, My problem is I have the winch but cant open the wallet for a
new bumper yet, figured this could be a good temporary alternative.
I found a used discreet mount for $50. kinda tempting ya know.
thanks for the feedback.

For that price I'd get the discreet mount and try it...it just might fit with some "persuasion" (bigass hammer)

Considering the same option for much the same reason. Let me know how it works out for you.

Don't get a hidden winch mount if you want to use it!

You don't have much access to the winch and can't see it spooling on a hidden winch mount. I like to see the cable spool and have access to the clutch when stuck in 2 feet of mud. You should bite the bullet and buy a good winch bumper first, get the BA175, $565. from DAP. It is light for an aftermarket bumper. You can add the brush bar from them as money becomes available. If you already have a winch great the tray will fit most 8000 & 9000’s. I know that it will work with your skid plate. I like the set up because if you bend your brush bar just get a new one, they're modular. The brush and bumper set up is lighter than TJM and ARB, so if there are kangaroos or deer on the roads near you, maybe this is not a good choice. The bumper won’t move boulders and large trees for you, but that is what ****** blocks and winches are for, in the first place!

Ive decided to wait for a bumper. And no the discreet mount
wont fit with the skid plate, and I'd rather have my
skid plate than my winch for the moment. but $50 like
I said, very tempting!
