ive got less than a month before factory warranty runs out on 2009 LR3. ive read through the sticky thread and talked with a handful of warranty companies (including Ford ESP through Zeigler Ford).

if I get one it will likely be a local one that dealership sells. 3 years 75k miles for $3130 with zero deductible (im at 48,400 miles now). $100 deductible is $2850.

Can go to 100k miles with $100 deductible for $3105. these all sound pretty decent. its a very good policy.

Im just wondering if I should roll the dice and keep the money. what is the most common, expensive problems that yall see? I haven't heard of any engine or transmission problems.....mainly just suspension. ??

thanks for any tips, ideas, advice.

I recently went through the same decision making process with my 2009. Just for the peace of mind I ended up going with a warranty vs. hanging onto the money.

I went with the Ford ESP because I don't live near a LR dealership, but do have good Euro shop close by.

In your case, those prices you gave seem really good considering they are through the dealer. I'd pay the extra amount for the 100k policy.

I also went with Ford ESP, but would definitely take the warranty up to 100k. I had paid a bit more around $5k, but I have a 2006 LR3 which had 50k miles at the time. The day I passed the warranty inspection and paid, I felt incredibly relieved knowing I wasn't going to have a huge single ticket item to pay for during the next 4yrs/48k miles.

In my case, shortly after I purchased the warranty I had the rear differential replaced, front left control arms, MAF sensor...that was around a $2500-$3000 bill if I remember correctly at the Land Rover dealership here in Jacksonville. Paid my $100 deductible and that was it!

Nice decision and price... I thought I would be alright averaging 12k miles a year with the 4yr/48 as I live within 10 miles from work. This year we've made two trips to Pittsburgh for JAX and another trip planned for the fall. Its tough not to take this rig on long trips, compared to our 2011 Jetta. Mileage may come before years in my case!

Keep your money

I disagree -- keep your money, don't get the warranty. Seems like a ton of money to pay for "peace of mind".... Roll the dice baby !

'07 LR3 SE
75,500 miles
Transmission seal leak- covered under extended warranty
Suspension compressor failure- replaced under extended warranty
Bonnet switch replacement- covered under extended warranty
Decide for yourself...I'm glad I chose to buy the warranty

My CPO warranty ended in May my 07. I totally let it lapse. Now i have no choice but to roll the dice. So far a left from suspension regulator, TPS Monitor (not the sensor, the actual monitor) and they noticed the left rear shock boot is ripped. only have 68000 miles but i am a bit concerned that i have big repairs in my future.
