Had the chance today to change the barometric pressure sensor on my LR4. She had thrown a MAP sensor code with CEL twice so I figured I would just go ahead and change it.

DIY is as follows.

Tools needed -

- Flat Head Screwdriver
- 20mm Torx Bit Screwdriver
- Gloves (if your a clean freak)
- Your favorite cold one

First - Pull the motor cover off.

Second - Release all 5 screw clamps on intake. Then remove the two flex hoses from the intake box to the center intake housing.

The last clamp is where the trottle body meets the motor.

Third - with your fingers pinch the hose right under the right side of the center inake. Should pop right off. Now all you need to do is firmly pull the intake towards the front of the vehilce and it should slide right off.

Fourth - The MAP sensor is now accessable. Located right behind the Throttle Body the MAP sensor is held in by a 20mm torx screw. Remove the screw. Remove the electrical connector. Gently turn the sensor side to side while pulling up and it shoud come right out.

When replacing the sensor with the new one. Try turning it back and forth rather than pushing down. The small gasket needs to be turned and pressure applied for it to slide in. I tried pushing with alot of force a few times and there is now way its going down without the twisting side to side pressure. I decided not to put any lube on that gasket due to the nature of this sensor.

After new sensor is installed reverse the process... take a few drinks of your favorite cold one and your good to go!

Much appreciated ! The only place in the entire Web where I could find this step by step to locate the MAP sensor.

That said, after installed and cleared the code, I still have the MAP absolute pressure sensor error...

Any thoughts

Thanks

I did too but eventually I believe the computer went through some adaptation value reset or something to that matter and it all cleared up. Give it some time and report back.

Your intake system is stock and clean correct?

The step by step instructions are truly the only ones on the web and they are excellent. That said, I still have the P0106 error after changing out the MAP sensor with an OEM. Originally I purchased a MAP sensor from Auto Zone, but returned it as I thought it was not working since it was not from Land Rover.

@Sagin did your code resolve itself after replacing? I just got the P0106 fault and plan on ordering a sensor tonight.
