Has anyone had issues with their engine fan? Mine has sounded funny for some time, so I had it checked out at the dealer and they said its going out and should be replaced at some point soon for $900. My indy guy says the fan is $450 plus a couple hours labor so probably a couple bills cheaper than than the dealer. Just curious how many of those have been replaced on here after 100k

Well....what do you mean by "sounded funny" and what does the dealer mean "it's going out." Is it cracked? Is it not running/turning properly? What is the failure mode?

is yours is roaring all the time, or blades chipped? Something Else?

Should be an easy DIY...maybe it's the clutch?

I've never heard of the fan going bad really...maybe try a junk yard for a fan. Clutch get new though.

the 'bad" that would be the fan would be chipped blades.. The typical Roar is the fan clutch pack.

May sound funny but, check your brake and tail lights. There eventually were plenty of other symptoms, but one of the first I noticed was the fan roaring occasionally when there was no need for it to do so.
