Any of us that have test driven the new D5 discovery know that it has absolutely nothing in common with the LR4. This is being discussed constantly in the LR4 forum. Everyone there hates the D5 and I understand why.

But some of us like myself are considering buying a new D5 anyway. It would be nice to have a forum where D5 owners and potential D5 owners can discuss issues. (Without constantly listening to why the LR4 is so much better than a D5) Thanks!

Agreed!

I guess the trick will be the naming.

Maybe create a new one called "Discover 5"
If you call the new one "Discovery" then you have to rename the old one to "Discover Series I and II" or something.

Good luck. Thanks for providing a great forum.

This weekend I got to drive one with the diesel engine. Wow!!! The ride was as smooth as my wife's Lexus with plenty of power. I own a VW touareg diesel and it's a great car except I needed more space for my gear. This vehicle for me fits all my requirements. Cargo room, fuel mileage, off ride capabilities, clean interior controls and a quiet comfortable ride. Also there's room to sleep in it if you had to:)
This is a good sized SUV make no mistake but it still handled nicely.Impressive vehicle.
I'm just bummed I have to wait till August instead of June which was the original delivery date.

I had a new 2008 V10 tdi. Loved it in many ways but not the tiny interior which is even outdone by my current comfy car an E61 6spd. However, at least the V10 even with its fantastic brakes bigger than the V8 got, it still fit 18" factory wheels. The new Disco5 is one of the dumbest things Land Rover has ever produced maybe only outdone by the Freelander.

We got it. It's simple...You don't like it, don't buy it.
We get it, you love the overpriced toy, so buy one.

However, be sure the new forum section is titled "for D5 lovers only" LOL

My post was one more reference, which I've never posted before, on how there's zero excuse for the wheel and brake size except being cheap on engineering while raising prices. None of you apparently follow the stock price and parent company. They are laughing at Americans for sure.

I don't "love it" which is why I have not ordered one yet. But I do need to buy something with a 6000 lb. GVWR in 2017. It will come down to a D5 or Q7, both nice crossovers.

Why not just get a full size RR? It's so much better IMO. I had a loaner 2016 RRSC for a week. Made me miss my 07 a lot.

As for that biz Tax deduction, the math really doesn't actually work long term but suit yourself. I've played that game for 15 yrs. Nor must it be a new vehicle.

I have considered a used full size RR and like it, but when I visit a client on a sales call it sends the wrong impression.

I agree, the business tax savings vs. paying for the vehicle is a marginal difference. And if (or when) that section 179 tax break goes away, it makes sense to keep vehicles long-term.
