I have a set of Michelin Latitude on my Range Rover. The tread is about 50% worn, so I'm doing some succession planning. Here's a suggestion: check your full-size spare. Mine was brand new,i.e., never been fitted. So, rather than buy 4 Michelin Latitudes, I am going to use the spare and purchase 3 new tires, converting one of the current tires to a spare. By doing this, I end up with a new set of tires for $750 rather than $1000.

That's a great point. When I had my LR3, I had a full-size spare, and did a 5-tire rotation. If a tire needed to be replaced and the other tires were worn down too much to work with the new tire, I'd make the new tire the spare, and switch to a 4-tire rotation.

exactly what he said ^ when you do the math on the $30/tire "certificates", youd might as well just spend that on an actual new spare tire. With that choice are are only spending the money if the event occurs and you are also getting something for the money. When buying the insurance, you spend the $ regardless but are gambling with it.

I have 40k on my Cooper Zeon LTZ (285/50r20). Hard to believe after 10K they need to be replaced because of wear.
I would just replace the one with the nail in it and call it a day.
I do understand the cautious approach, but in this case I think the approach is unwarranted given the wear of the Cooper's.

Is Michelin still making the Latititude? This could throw your plan a little.
