From what I heard this past weekend from the LR staff at the expo, the heritage program is allowing those who want to drive the defender the opportunity to do so as they are signalling a possible spring announcement of the new one. It also is showing how far technology has gone in their other vehicles. If you read the fine print you will see you do not get a half or full day with the defender, you only get a couple hours before selecting a newer vehicle from their lineup.

In regards to the 525hp engine....ummm...why not? I feel that the long travel suspension and the beefy V8 are the things I really wish my LR4 had. If the LR4 had all this equipment offered in an SVX package there would have been few complaints other than the price. The D5 is ugly, but they are getting the equipment packaging correct in my opinion.

Re the engine and why not. Personally I rarely use the bottom half of the accelerator as it is with my 4. Big engines are cool and all, I just don't drive that way, and it doesn't prove anything off road, (nor do 20" wheels) so why spend the extra $10,000 or so for it? If I'm being honest, I'm never going to be able to wrap my head around $90,000 for a truck, at least for the way I use it.

I took the plunge and handed over the deposit for the Discovery SVX in October, so I'll keep everyone posted on the ordering experience and as I get details. No sign yet of a configurator, Dealer has set expectation should expect a fully-configured price tag of between $90-$100k. Expectation is that winch, light pod etc. will all be options.

Honestly, very excited, and I wholly intend for this to be battling it's way through the Pacific Northwest forests and mountains.. this will *not* be one of those over-equipped posing vehicles for commutes ;)

NICE! You'll have to let us know how it is, and upload pics and vids of it on and off road. ☺

Somehow the local LR dealer encourages buyers to get the rear ladder but these posers don't even have a roof rack or even roof rails. My daughter calls it the "ladder to nowhere".

Delivery likely March 2018, so I have a bit of a wait. I'll be curious to see which roof rack systems will actually fit with the light pod, so unless I end up with a full rack I certainly won't be bothering with the "ladder to nowhere" :)

I'm stoked someone on the forum is getting one. I'm a huge fan of the upgrades within this svx package, pretty sure they should all come like this.

I'm curious on this.
I've contact two large dealers, prior to seeing this post, in my area who have no idea when the SVX will be available nor an established estimated price range from Land Rover.
They would not even take a deposit, as there are way to many variables at this point.

Did you pay for conjecture?

Even best guestamates put the the realease date at the end of 2018, with deliverables well into 2019.

Curious on which dealers are offering to take money on a vehicle, that Land Rover may never release. Still a concept, until they have a production date and MSRP.

I've heard different input on the release and delivery dates from both sides of the Atlantic (originally from UK). That seems to be Q1 calendar year delivery, build options and configuration available during December. But, that said, there's nothing official or written down to support that, so we'll have to see how it plays out. Deposit was fully refundable and I wasn't particularly fussed about handing it over, so I don't exactly stand to lose anything other than time. Should the SVX fail to transpire into an actual vehicle within the first 6 months of 2018, then I will consider other options. Likely that will either be a Discovery with after market "stuff" or a Range Rover with various modifications. I'd be curious just how capable the new 2018 Range Rover *could* be off-road with mods...

For now, I'm content to cross my fingers and wait and see what unfolds with the SVX :)

If I were to spend my $$$ on an LR SVR, I would on the RRS version.
