Yep, I wanted a Kaymar for ages but they stopped selling in the USA. You'd pay massive shipping direct from Aus and then have to pay import fees. It's a shame.

I've heard you can't fit a fully inflated 285 65 18 in the spare tire compartment under the back of the vehicle. Truth to that?

285/65/18? I doubt you'll be able to fit it, period. At 33" dia. IMHO it's just too large to stuff up there, even fully deflated. As a running wheel, it'll rub an awful lot as well, unless you plan on making room into the wheel wells.

G;day Surfrider77. A pity about the Kaymar situation in the U.S. They are a great product. Do your 265/65
BFG KO2's on 18" Compomative wheels put your speedo way out compared to OME 255/55/19's??
I'm told 265/60-18's are equivalent size, although the higher the sidewall the better of course.
Have you had any problem with stones jamming or catching between the wheel & brake assembly? I've heard of a couple of guys who have. I intend to import my Compomotives in October this year. My Wranglers will be well past it by then!
I'll call Kaymar & see if they are actively looking for a new U.S. distributor.

Regarding the Kaymar rear bar/wheel hanger situation & the guy needing a replacement jerry can pivot or bearing, he should contact Emily at [email protected] She'll follow up on that problem.
Kaymar are always on the lookout for a new U.S. distributor, especially in the Pacific N.W.

Would you consider selling just one? I am looking to buy a spare. I'll be in CO in July.
Possibly ElChuco. I'm waiting on my rims still and have not decided on tires and not in a rush. I'll shoot you a PM when I'm ready to sell these. Should be easy to sell my four and sell you the one. My spare has a brand new Cooper Zeon LTZ on it. Would you want that one?

Anyone use the Voyager Racks rear tire carrier? That seems like to most likely set up to get in the US. Looks solid, but any feedback on this one? And if so which one, the long or short bottom bar?

We don't see Voyager rear wheel carriers he in Aus, but check with other owners before you buy because many cheaper carriers rattle badly on our outback corrugated tracks. Try to find a solid steel replacement
rear bumper with a rigidly mounted carrier. It eliminates rattles.
A company here called Outback Accessories Australia make a good carrier, but I don't imagine they have a U.S. distributor I'll go with the Kaymar unit. Kaymar have confirmed with me today that they do direct exports to the U.S. but I guess the cost is a

Hello. I was enjoying the posts re rear wheel carriers etc. I now have a Disco Ii and an LR4. I previously had an LR3 set up expedition style with underbody armor and a swing away rear wheel carrier. The carrier attached to the chassis through the right rear bumper with a hefty steel post . I sold the LR3, with the under cladding, but kept the rear wheel carrier. I will have to check but I believe it is made by Rasta, an Israeli off road gear supplier. I no longer need this so if you are interested, pls let me know. It now has an LR 3 18"wheel and tire mounted. The carrier is very solid and no rattles rust or other issues. I am in Idaho. Thanks

Yes, I would consider the Cooper. I'm driving on new-ish Bridgestone Alenzas, so not a great match. My preference would be any rim with an old tire I would plan to replace with a match for my set. But, if the price is right. . .

Thanks Elixir. Sounds like a cool setup. Not sure if fitment is the same for the LR4. If you were closer I'd check it out. Thanks again.
