My wife thought she was opening her 2006 LR3 to load some things in the back, only to discover on entering it, that it was the wrong LR3!!!

Has this happened to anyone else?!?!

Has not happened to me....any chance that other LR3 was simply left unlocked? Or did your wife explicitly notice that the sound of the doors unlocking was heard?

It's hard to say; we were wondering the same. There is no way to know, at this point, whether or not the other LR3 was already open. She didn't hear anything to verify. We're just not used to people leaving their vehicles open, but I guess it's possible...

My guess is also that the other 3 was unlocked. This would be because his keyfob, like many others, does not work at all. In other words, you are one of the lucky ones.

For him to lock and unlock his 3, he has to do it manually, a bit of a nuisance.

This brings up another question. Do you know how to manually lock and unlock your 3 and more importantly, if you do, does the unlock function work?

Since the mechanism is mechanical and used very little, it can freeze up - well maybe it locks, but does not unlock.

At least once a year, I do the lock and unlock thing to test it out. I might add that I always roll my drivers door window down first - that suggests my level of confidence so to speak. So far after thirteen years, all good including the key fobs, but there is always tomorrow.

Pretty sure that the other LR3 needed the locking system wire repair under the passenger side rocker cover plate. I have done that repair on all my LR3's, as the rear of the car stopped locking and the remote fob didn't work.

Huge chance that the other LR# wasn't even locked, like the other poster said. Our drivers side door didn't lock for who knows how long. Only discovered it by our daughter one day trying to open it while it was "locked" and it opened. The lock cable had snapped, all the motors were still working and "thunking" so we thought it was locking.

My old Triumph Spitfire key would start my buddies MGB and another friends TR7. We all would move each others cars around the school lot. I am glad the quality has improved....maybe not lol.

It happened to me, at a parking lot, back in the 90's with a Ford Bronco. it opened the doors and ignition switch. I notice I did NOT had a baby seat in my Bronco lol
