I've been searching for a 2013 LR4 with the HD package and vision assist package and have had almost 0 luck. I've been looking on autotrader and craigslist primarily.

Any other ideas on where to find LR4's for sale? Local dealership was near useless in helping find a used vehicle.

I'm not even sure if there's many of the combination I'm looking for. Are there any build numbers available?

How important is the locking e-diff for some moderate off roading?

i have a 2013 i plan on keeping forever but ive also been keeping my eye out for another one since we are racking up the miles. 2013s are hard to come by.

I was able to find our second 2013 on Autotrader, it was 1000 miles away with 10K miles on it. I bought it without ever seeing it in person.

The LR4 we ordered new is a LUX with a rear locking diff. For our second one, I had to settle for a LUX without the rear locking diff. In sand and snow I can't tell any traction difference between the two. But if you plan to rock climb with one rear wheel in the air then get the rear locking diff.

If not, make searching for a LUX your priority. The nicer leather, xenons, better radio, cooler box and memory seats make a LUX worth the wait.

For moderate off roading the HD package is not essential but nice to have. This assumes that all 2013s still have the twin speed transfer case.

Concur on the Lux. I like the vision assist package too but it is a nice to have.

Can the HD package be purchased/installed aftermarket?

In 2013 the HD pack was the locking rear diff and a full size spare tire. You can add a full size wheel & spare tire. There is no practical way to add the locking rear diff.

All 2013 and older LR4s have the 2-speed transfer case. Starting in 2014 the HD pack included a 2-speed transfer case along with the full size spare and locking rear diff.

Not easily.
So if a locking rear differential goes out... is it a completely different installation than if I wanted one installed on my 2012 HSE? What makes it not practical lets say years down the line when things fall apart? Haven’t got the repair manual yet as I’m under warranty for the next two years.
