I have a 2002 Land Rover Discovery II SD, I need to buy but there are so many choices and some that are drill slot rotors and I do not know the difference so any opinions on those who might have bought some already would help.

Buy the cheapest option you are willing to buy. Basically you do not need slotted or drilled rotors and ceramic brakes would be over spending on brakes for a Rover.

I bought cheap pads, and they squeal badly. I would pay a little more to avoid that, maybe a some more research would tell you the specific brand, I would start looking at Rovers North site.

If the pads are squealing, then either they are not semi metallic or you should have gotten anti squeal pads to go on the bad of the pads.

Hi Amber
I agree with Joey, but I was thinking. The reason I bought the cheapest I could find was ( and I Did ) is after considering Brembos and Akebonos .I got the cheapest because the way I drive: I'm not an aggressive driver and if I see that the green is about to change and i'm a block away from the light I take the pedal away from the gas. I save brakes and gas. BUT If you have hills where you live or you are an aggressive driver towing weight or always late ;>) Get the Brembo Rotors and the Akebono pads. Even thou I have a pair of young twins_ I went with less money....is been three years of no worries and excellent braking.
Arrive Alive and Keep on Braking !

The best cheap setup in my opinion is Going with the Cross Drilled Terrafirma Rotors and Ceramic Terrafirma pads they are not much more cost wise and an upgrade to basic solid rotors and dirt cheap pads... That combo I usually sell front and Rear Rotors and Pads for $330 shipped and a basic full kit is around $240 shipped.
