Can someone please confirm that the LR4 dashboard material is actually leather? I'm just confirming for the purposes of what to use to clean it.

Oh, and while we're at it, what is the best product to clean it with? :D

I use 303 Aerospace Protectant. Hopefully it prevents some of the UV damage such as fading and cracking. Also works great on the cowl and other exterior black plastic such as the black bumper trim.

It’s an HSE Lux, so I’m assuming so regarding the extended leather, but how would I confirm this?

Thanks PaulLR3 - I’ll look into that product. You use that on your leather dash cover?

My MY13 HSE Lux has the extended leather. You can tell the various stuff is leather. Been using Griot Leather Care with no problems.
Not sure what year you have but the pocket facts guide for 2013 says this

Extended Windsor Leather option for LR4 HSE LUX:
• Premium Windsor leather with twin stitch detail
– Dash binnacle
– Door top
– Upper door casing
– Armrest
– Door grab handles

I'm guessing you would have the leather binnacle if it matches the leather armrest and other parts.

pretty sure the dash is leather. If you don't have extended leather, then the gauge cluster thing is just plastic, same with door handles, etc.

I use leather products on the main dash area.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I use Aerospace 303 Protectant on the black plastic parts, including the plastic between the windshield and leather part of the dashboard. On the leather part of the dashboard, leather on the door panels, cooler box cover and seats I use Lexol leather conditioner.

Yeah mine is a ‘13 and it has all those features you mentioned as well, so it looks like extended leather for me! Woo-hoo! Now I just have to decide between the 200,000 leather care products out there....

From what I've seen, the extended leather and HSE Lux leather are two separate and distinct options. The extended leather has a smooth, padded leather over your instrument cluster (HSE and HSE lux is plastic here), as well as a smooth padded leather on the door, both handle area and window sill. The HSE Lux (and I think all other models?) have a tumbled, possibly composite, leather or even vinyl.

The reason I say composite is because I recently purchased a used 2011 which had considerable wear on the driver side window sill from it being used as an arm rest, and it wore away in an odd peeling manner and revealed a mesh layer underneath. The upper layer is really thin and somewhat elastic, which leads me to believe it isn't actually leather.

Up until MY2013, the Extended Windsor Leather package was a separate, extra cost option on HSE Lux LR4s (in North America, not sure about other markets.) Starting with MY2014, Extended Leather was included at no cost on all NAS HSE Lux models.
