well ****. I just had the dealership order a pair of 275/55/20 pirelli scorpion ATRs for 2016 LR4
are they really horrible?

Pirelli Scorpion ATR is an entirely different tire from the OEM Scorpion Zeros. ATR is a very good all terrain tire. Zeros are the 20" OEM tires that wear out from the time the vehicle leaves the production line until you bring it home. Mine were really bald at 11K miles.

Followup.... Went with Michelin Defender LTX MS in stock 255/50/20. Must say this tire is better in every category vs the Pirelli's. Wow, are they quiet inside the cab. These should have come as factory tires.

Good. This is what is going on in the spring. Give us an update in few months.

Are you sure a 275/55 won't rub? 255/50 is stock
Well, they had the new Discovery on the floor with that size. Service Tech said they will fit LR4.
They just called and said they are rubbing slightly.
Says: options are
put Johnson Rods on (which they put on the discovery floor model)
or find a 50/R20 ATR tire

For those that hate the Pirelli's - can you elaborate on what you don't like - other than the accelerated wear? Are they exceptionally crappy in various conditions even before they are worn?

For context - just picked up a 2016 with 20's and it came with brand new Pirelli's. Thinking I would run them until they are somewhat worn and swap them for something else but if they are truly terrible / inadequate in moderate winter conditions (I'm in the DC area), I would consider swapping them out now.

I have a 2016 that also came with the Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires. They work great in wet and dry road conditions but I can't comment on how they handle in snow as I'm in Hawaii.

The accelerated wear however is true. Needing to replace at 20K. Looking at getting the Nitto G2s.

Pulled off the Pirelli Scorpion tires last week. I just turned 19k miles on my 2016 with them. Other than the speed at which they wore out, they weren't too bad. All 4 were at the wear bars so definitely not getting another winter out of them.

Put on the Nito Terra Grappler G2's in 265/50-20. I put one on the full size spare as well. The plan is to do a 5 tire rotation every 5k miles. Free rotations at America's Tire don't ya know! So far loving the ride of these tires. No louder than the Pirelli's they are replacing. Nice, compliant ride. I'll test them out better in the next few weeks when I can go and get the truck dirty.
