My Check Engine light appeared while trailering a 4,500 lb. trailer & boat around 70 miles per hour.

I stopped, checked the manual which indicated it might be an emission issue with the engine or transmission and that it was safe to drive even though it may go into Limp mode.

The dealer I bought it from made an appointment to check the DTC for this Friday.

Any thoughts on common causes, remedies, potential future problems, etc...?

This is my third LR since 2003 and never had an issue with the last two. First one had the 3 amigos of course.

Thanks, Marty

I had a CEL within the last couple of weeks that generated a P2098 code. Turned out to be a faulty left rear (post-catalytic converter) oxygen sensor. The only odd thing was that this occurred at around 40K miles and I'm pretty sure that O2 sensors are typically good till around 80K but there you have it.

If it does turn out to be emissions related, remember that the EPA has a federal mandated warranty on emissions components. 2 yr/24k miles for anything that fails you in an emissions inspection (if your state has them). 8 yr/80k miles on major components (cats, computers, and obd systems). Sensors are not included, though they should be.

I don't have the code(s) yet. My old Hawkeye can't read the codes. The warranty information is helpful and I imagine that my dealer will not charge for any required repairs.

Thanks. After Friday I'll post the results.

The codes were P0055, P0042 and P0041. They replaced the O2 sensor. No charge.

I was towing a boat when the Check Engine came on so I was worried that the tranny had a fault.

We have a 2016 LR4 HSE with tow package with about 24k miles, Corris Grey with same 20 inch wheels. We have had two rounds of oxygen sensor replacements, the most recent less than a week ago. Also, have had two rounds of clogged sunroof drains that have leaked water into the interior. Other than that, the front spoiler popped loose; dealer popped it back in. Did it again and they said a TSB had been issued for a replacement. Other than that, it's been good so far.

Mine is Corris Gray too. 20" wheels. The Silver Edition. Lots of extras I guess. I had the same leak. Passenger side. Oddly a few days ago I opened the back passenger door after a rain storm and water rushed out near the sill. I'm guessing the weep holes at the bottom of the door ended up pooling water where the bottom of the door meets the sill. Opening the door allows the water out. Never saw that before. I need to check this one closer. Sounds like a rust issue in the future.
