We travel with our dog carrier facing rearward in the back of our LR4.

Is there a way to lock the LR4 with the tailgate and doors closed but with the hatch raised open?

We'd like to do this for short term parking in warm weather. Our dog is happier that way but we don't want all the doors unlocked.

FYI: 2016 LR4 with sensor lock detection and unlock buttons on exterior door handles.

I've tried locking the car then opening the hatch using the sensor feature, but that unlocks all the doors too. I can't get the car to lock using the fob when the hatch is open (I get the "beep, beep" error).

Is there a trick to this or is it impossible?

On mine, I can lock the vehicle with all the doors closed, then open the rear hatch. All the other doors remained locked except the rear hatch. The bottom portion of the tailgate may be unlocked too, though.

2013 LR4 . I can lock the car with my remote then go to the tailgate and open it. All the doors stay locked. When my tailgate is open I can open the lower portion of a tailgate without my smart key and all the doors still stay locked. I hope this will help.
