I am going to pick up an IID tool. Is everyone using the basic? Pro? Or EAS only? My plan is to understand codes, manage my suspension and a few other items. I use the dealer for anything significant but would never walk in blind

There are only two options for the IID Tool. General, or bluetooth. The Bluetooth one is what most have and I believe is a lot easier to use.

I purchased a OBDCOM (usb interface) unit which requires a laptop to connect and read faults. Laptop's big screen way better than other hand held too small of screen units, trust me I tried them all. Best $59 investment purchase ever for me a OBDCOM unit. A dealership's one time diagnostic hookup alone with their scanner will cost you more than a OBDCOM item purchase before adding parts and labor costs to the fix the problem.

Best purchase ever for me with having all the code faults gauges and sensors be it on digital or analog readout real time even while driving the vehicle. Check and clear features used on a 04 and 10 Ford Escape V6's in the household. OBDCOM has fantastic customer support should you have any questions or need them.
A 95 D1 purchase in 2000 for a reason vs owning any OB2 LR vehicle. OB1 D1's system has its own code fault reader under the passenger seat allowing any DIY'er the ability to read and clear a fault, talking 30 seconds to clear any fault codes.....~~=o&o>.....

I'd like to get one soon but prob IID tool. As I understand it, the IID tool has much more that can be changed than the OBDCOM one. I would like to reset my TPMS and play with the height some. Are there other options besides IID that have the same functions?

Atlantic British has something they call ILand. Not sure if it does all the stuff the IID tool does, but it does some of the things.

I like the support that comes with the IID tool. Patrick has even sent me pages to explain problems as well as special update downloads and pointing me in the right direction on diagnoses.

My money and vote goes to the GAP IID Bluetooth. It's versatile and does just about anything and everything and, as mentioned, support is great.

I have both IID BT and Nanocom Evolution and I use the IID tool 99% of the time now.

I mostly use my eyes and ears.

I bet you have to be very very quiet ("Elmer Fudd") while listening for them little electrons zipping down the wires carrying important information from all the vehicle's sensors.

You need to go for a "Thump" before winter sets in up north. That still a 510 called 525, a XC short ****** 525 or the EXC long ****** 525? Had to ask.

Matchless Typhoon 600 thumper, BMW's R90/6, R90s, R75/5, R27 (baby 250 thumper), two 850 Norton Roadsters plus one Norton 850 Interstate with original "tyres" that still has break in decals a world international rally 1st place show winner bikes at my end.....~~=o&o>......

I'll add my vote for the Gap IID. Just got back from Moab and used it to give myself almost 2 inches of extra clearance and it was fantastic. Easy to use and save as a preset for
later. Luckily didn't need it for any fault diagnostics.
