Hello,

I have to replace the HID headlight(s) on my 2008 LR2 and given how much they cost, I want to make sure I have it right and I’m having trouble with one part of the process.

First, I know how to access the light bulbs and I know not to touch the the HID bulbs with my fingers.

The issue I’m having is how do I get the bulb out once I open up the compartment. I’ve only found YouTube videos of HID bulbs from other LandRover models and years which do not look like mine. While in those videos you rotate the bulb counter clockwise to remove it, my bulb does not rotate.

I’d greatly appreciate any help in helping me get this changed without causing further damage to my car.

Many thanks,

-Ken

Dear Ken and Norway,

It's true that you only need to get the two screws out. But you need a specialist screwdriver with a very small crown head to do it. The screws are tiny, and need to be handled with great care. I got the local mechanic to do it, and it was fine, but he has a garage full of tools worth tens of thousands of Euros/dollars/pounds. So, yes, with a little help you could get it done, which I did. The bulb here is $100 and it's very elaborate, with a new silver box attached to it. The rest of the bulbs, including the indicator lamps, are simple screw ins.

Hope this helps.
