I can say that the Cooper Zeons are much louder than the Pirelli ATR's they replaced on the RR, much louder than the Nokian Rotiiva's on my Sub Z71, louder than the Revo's and Yoko AT-S's on my LR3, and louder than BFG TA's on my CJ. They are the loudest AT's I have experienced, and only get louder as they wear. The 20" set I had on my RRS S\C were markedly quieter than the 19" set on the RR, however.

I'm having 4 new Conti AT's installed as I type. The Zeon's coming off have 50% of the tread left. I could have lived with the noise, but my wife mandated the change. Hopefully the Conti's are quieter, or I'll have to look at all-seasons - ugh.

Interesting info in that post. Still plenty info on Goodyear's site about Duratrac's which is odd if they are supposedly going away. That said, their site didn't show any 255/55/19.

Thanks for the feedback on the Duratrac noise. It's interesting since it seems more have complained about the LTZ's and others have said the Duratracs are fine. All very subjective I supposed.

The Duratracs are not going away, it is just the 255/55/19 size that keeps coming and going. That size is the only size that was made in Germany and when I questioned Goodyear on the specs (they are different for this one size compared to the other sizes), they said this size was made specifically for Land Rover. Now that LR has moved on to 31" wheel diameters for most of their lineup, it could be that Goodyear has no reason to special order a batch of the tires. Time will tell.

I was one of the people saying the Duratracs were fine for the first 2.5 years. Now that we have 25,000 miles on them, they are louder than any other tire I have had - the only AT comparisons I have are General Grabber AT2 and the original BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A K0's. Neither of those were loud enough to bother me when worn, but the Duratracs are loud in comparrison.

You'll have plenty of good times before then, so if you're not adverse to replacing them a bit early if things really get loud, they are still great tires!

Interesting. Yeah, I had those same BFG KO’s and they were great! Swear I got like 60k miles out of a set.

Seems like either LTZ or Duratrac will end up with a fair amount of noise.

I usually go through rear tires on the M3’s in 9-12k miles and 20k in the front, so I’m used burning through. Was hoping these would last a while on the LR4. Oh well.

So, it seems like the Conti ATs are the best choice based on my usage here in the US for a 16 LR4. I ran Grabbers on my old 04 Disco and am pretty bummed that they're not available here.

For those who are looking, Wal-Mart appears to have Duratrac's in stock (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Goodyear-Wrangler-Duratrac-P-255-55R19-XL-Tire-111S/43079826). They're quite a bit pricier than I want to go, but they're obviously a solid (albeit noisy) tire.

I'm going to pull the trigger tomorrow on the Conti's so if anyone has any last-ditch advice telling me otherwise, I'd appreciate the head's up.

Everything I've read about the Conti ATs makes them sound like a good tire.

Although I like my Cooper Zeons, I think I'll go with 18" wheels and tires the next time around.

Yokohama now has the Geolandar AT G015 available in stock size, seems like very similar tire to the Conti.

FWIW I just test fit BMW style 99 wheels to the LR4 and they fit. They are really close to the fins on the caliper so some mild trimming for safe clearance is probably in order. They are at the tire shop now getting cooper ST Maxx's in 265/60/18 installed. Will post up how it all goes when it's done. The BMW wheels imo look great and can be had for $150/ea new.

Interesting. How do they fit on the hubs?

EDIT: After some research, looks like BMW uses a 72.6mm bore; the same as the LR4. These could be promising.

EDIT 2: Stock LR4 wheels have a 53mm offset. Compomotives have 44mm. The BMW wheels are 40mm, so a little wider than the Compomotives, but not near as wide as the LR3 wheels plus spacers.

They are installed, fit seems perfect. More testing and pics tomorrow when we have daylight. As you notes the hub centers and bolt spacing is spot on. The offset is 4mm less than compos so ever so slightly wider. They require normal 60 degree conical lug nuts. Still need to find suitable center caps. All in more than $1500 cheaper than compos and the style and color is more to my liking for my specific color Landy.

I did preemptively grind the caliper fins down a bit so as to avoid any worry of interference.
