FYI to anyone experiencing this noise..... Sounds like a baby bird chirping when driving over rough roads or potholes. Audible on the inside of vehicle.

Dealer fixed over the weekend.

Q638 Bulletin. Replaced upper tailgate wedges, lower tailgate striker bar and plate.

No more chirping. Good stuff!!

Interesting. I think we had exactly this noise and it was driving us crazy. We're out of warranty, so I just did some adjustments to the connecting brackets to prevent any movement of the upper and lower gates when closed. There was definitely some wiggle room on one side of the lower gate and with the center connection. Noise gone (or at least inaudible)!

I am interested in what they replaced though. Any chance you could post part numbers?

I fixed the chirp sound on my truck but still have the “clunk” when I go over a large pothole or something. I’m assuming this is normal given the makeup of the spit tailgate but I’m not sure. What I did was grease the black rubber wedges on the sides of the jambs when the upper tail gate was up using lithium grease I also adjusted the striker bars forward on the lower tailgate in order to make the door close tighter. What you have to do is remove the black cover plates to get to the bolts (use a flat head screwdriver and a wratchet set). Although I love animals, I was going to **** those birds one way or another!!
